Jeff S Posted July 24 Share #2 Posted July 24 US dealers have the new 28-70 out of stock, on back order. Maybe they’re hiding in these kits.
maxinmanhattan Posted July 25 Share #3 Posted July 25 Why the one with 28-70 kit is more expensive than the one with 50 or 35 prime? While in the US it is the opposite? Welcome, dear visitor! CptSlevin Posted July 25 Share #4 Posted July 25 Sales of SL3S seems to be underwhelming by SL2S standards
robb Posted July 26 Share #5 Posted July 26 Love my two sl2s bodies… no real reason to go with sl3s but hopefully the newer body will bring new customers to Leica.
costa43 Posted July 26 Share #6 Posted July 26 (edited) I also do not have a want/need to upgrade but the small weight reduction and screen would be welcome additions. The core offering for my use case is very similar between the SL2-S and SL3-S and the heavy depreciation on the older body makes it less appealing to upgrade, at least for the time being anyway. I also hope it sells well and the user base increases. Edited July 26 by costa43
Kim Dahl Posted July 26 Share #7 Posted July 26 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm considering buying the SL3-s because of the video features. And because I already have a lot of M optics and a Q3. So staying in the Leica world makes sense. Instead of Sony - which is an obvious choice - when we talk video. But I'm worried about the price when I have to upgrade. And that time will come. Even though some say “do what you feel. Life is short... “ But the Leica SL, neither the camera body nor the lenses, has held up well in value. The new offers make it a little more attractive. To get completely new customers for the SL system, Leica needs to make attractive introductory offers.
jaapv Posted July 26 Share #8 Posted July 26 I thought that Panasonic was the camera to go to for Video. And it would allow you to stay with the L mount.
Big John Posted July 31 Share #9 Posted July 31 Still using original SL, with M mount lenses. In fact just about to sell my 24-90 as it gets so v little use. Am attracted to IBIS if I moved to a later SL body but still concerned about overall size and weight. I know the SL3-S is a tiny bit smaller and lighter and the grip difference makes it feel quite different (in a good way) to the original SL - but anyone else moved from original to 3 series? Thanks. jaapv Posted July 31 Share #10 Posted July 31 Selling the 24-90 sounds like a good move. I find that the weight objection to the SL series is not so much in the body weight - it is in the same range as M cameras, maybe 100-150 grams more, The size and weight of the lenses is more of an issue. In that department Sigma and Panasonic offer much lighter versions, and going all-M lens solves even more of the problem.

Used prices of the SL series and their lenses seem to have plummeted .
