Another focusing test at working aperture with EVF, auto zoom and focus peaking. With a 21mm lens at f/11 this time. Just for fun, also to debunk theories that WAs could not be focused accurately with an EVF and that focusing at full aperture would be necessary with them.

Compared to Ansel Adams, who had to focus at f/45 on a dim ground glass with a loupe, focusing in live view with or without edge enhancement is a breeze (at any aperture and focal length). Me personally however, I find focusing with magnified view or edge enhancement distracting (although for close focusing it is often the only solution available). That‘s not what I have a Leica for.

Combining screen elements in groups like Leica did is - at least for me - a very good idea. I don’t need every combination of screen elements possible, I want the most useful combinations as fast as possible. Yes, it took a while to get used to it, but now I don‘t want to miss it.

regarding the sample photos. Judging critical focus of 3-dimensional objects without indication of the intended focus point at apertures that already cause diffraction seem to me a little useless. And if the photos are not taken from tripod, the tiniest move after focusing ruins the desired intention …

The rangefinder would have been useless (too close) but i'm still glad to have it in the M11. Most of my pics are shot with an EVF though so i don't expect difficulties with the rumored EVF-M if it comes in spite of the M12 having an hybrid VF if any.
