My 28-70mm lens arrived today, well packed by dealer, Leica boxes sealed. Superb lens… 😎

I received my 28-70mm yesterday from Leica France. Even after comparing all the specs to the 24-70mm, it is substantially smaller and lighter than I imagined it would be and much more comfortable to carry around.

@lykaman @Bcaldwell

Could one of you please create a dedicated photo thread for this lens and start positing images? It would be really nice to start seeing some real world images from this lens as it seems to be a no-brainer lens on paper for the SL owner to own.

Today was the first time the lens has been on my S5, I will post a few images  (here) very soon.  First impressions it behaves very much like the 18-56mm Vario TL when on the S5 except it’s a FF lens. Not hefty but imho large certainly not over heavy. Very smooth zoom action. No excessive battery drain. Haven’t used it on the CL yet.  🍻

@lykaman Great! The Vario 18 mm - 56mm is so great on the CL so having the similar compact versatile setup for the SL is exactly what I am looking for.

Please create a separate image thread for the lens.
It will be open for the twin Sigma lens as well.

Used the new lens on my CL today, the lens is tad too heavy for slow speed work as the camera/lens combo is front heavy.. On the S5 it’s perfect, IQ between the cameras is hardly discernible. No doubt a pixel peeper may well see a difference. In day to day work they are imho equal. Is the $2k cost worth it, you decide! I’m more than happy with mine..

The best walkaround standard zoom available for mirrorless got the Leica deluxe upgrade.  There are good technical reasons for either carrying this or the Sigma original, and now also a choice of finishing for those also motivated shallower things (the Leica may genuinely be better built, too early to say). I went with the Leica - it brings me back to my R8 days, with the Leica-Minolta 35-70 f4.

Just arrived. Love the intent behind designing its form factor.

thanks. I already checked those videos but they are not a truly and detailed review of the lens. Just a first "hands on"
