Hey I’m looking to get a wider angle lens for my Leica m11. I don’t thing it will be a lens I’m gonna use that often so I’m looking for low budget 🙂

im currently looking at the 21mm f4 color-skopar, do any one use that on the Leica m11 ? I know it have some problems on digital when shooting color, but I also heard that the was no problem when converting the black and white 🙂 and I shoot b&w 85%.

alternatively I’m looking at the color-skopar 28mm f2.8 .

do any one have experience using the 2 lenses ?

Kind regards Matias

Take the 21. You can always crop.

I was thinking the same, but i don’t know if the lens would be any good on the m11, I have seen some photos with the m11m and the cs 21mm f4 and they look good. But must of the reviews only talks about “red-desisse” 😅

No need to crop or shoot BW folks, the Skopar 21/4 does not produce any color shift on the M11.

M11, Skopar 21/4, f/4:

I don't have the Color-Skopar, but the SE 21 is one of my favorite walk around lenses. I sometimes do crop the images. By contrast I don't use 28 as much, defaulting to 35.

Great photo ! I have a 35mm as well, so was also thinking that the 28mm might be too similar:-)

Current M but the LTM variant has the same optics AFAIK. It has no groove for 6-bit coding on the flange though i suspect. I have no experience with the LTM variant though.

I’m going for the m version as well, I don’t have any ltm cameras so it’s will only be for the m11. Thanks a lot for the answer/ photo, and the tip for the lens profile 😀👌

They are a little different. There is no agument on the merit of 28mm (look at the success of the Q) and how it can be cropped.  I don't dislike it, but I used to be mnoslty a 50 shooter on medium range, so 35 alreay gives me context...outside of that I tend to go much wider.  The Leica 21 distorts very little (at leat the SE) so I love it.

I have a 28 lens and had a 28 q but almost always cropped a little to get what I wanted out of the pic. It's just my taste.

I've bought the M 21/4 Color Skopar and works perfectly on M11, no color fringes and really compact. Great with people walking around.
