anickpick Posted June 8 Share #1  Posted June 8 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) I've owned the new Summilux Classic for a few days now - and I have to say I'm a bit in love with it. Unfortunately, I sold my Summilux v2 a few years ago. I would have liked to make a comparison. In my memory, the Summilux v2 had pronounced field curvature and a slightly wilder bokeh. The new Summilux Classic can be used wide open  without the focus point having to be in the center. The bokeh is controlled, round and typically classic. Here are some bokeh comparisons between the new 50mm Summilux Classic and the Summilux Asph cf: First the whole picture - then the crop:  Edited June 8 by anickpick

elmars Posted June 8 Share #5  Posted June 8 The bokeh of both lenses looks very similar to me. That fits in with my own comparisons.
UliWer Posted June 8 Share #6  Posted June 8 Does it? I see quite a lot of difference. Though anickpick doesn‘t tell which is which in the direct comparisons. My guess is: in #2, the asph is the second example, while it the first one in #3.

pedaes Posted June 8 Share #8 Â Posted June 8 The slightly 'busier' bokeh in #3 is my impression from mine, exaggerated when highlights are involved. If you look at the comprehensive comparisons Red Dot Forum did with the re-issue Steel Rim it was the same story. Great!
