I have just updates the Q3 28mm to 3.1.1. I am told on camera to switch camera off after updating. And then to turn it back on. ok.  A 3D colorful moving display plays on the screen. Ok with me. After  a while I am asked for my language, the date and time in my region etc ... and in the time setting panel I can go 24h, set my GMT number (-6, Chicago), summer time etc ... I set up the local time here where I sit and THAT IS IT.

I can not continue, nothing else can be set up. nothing is offered, ... and I know that  I have to set my DNG or Jpeg output formats, Single shot or multiple ..., my steps for ISO changes etc. But I cannot take pictures at all, change the screen entries and modes ... NOTHING works. I am stuck in Date and Time. Literally !

So I turn the camera off, leave the updating card in camera and when I turn camera back on: There is the language question, ... the Date and Time all to be set anew ... and shooting photos impossible, dead in the water.

How do I set up Q3 after a firmware update? It is un-usable right now.

Do I pull out the firmware updating SD card and put my current SD card in? Will that work, in what language?

Thanks for your help,

FrankU

PS: putting in my currently used card without the Firmware 3.1.1 ...fu file does not change anything. Sorry that does not work either. Camera stays bricked for now.

Where do I send the bricked camera now? How long will it take? To get it back to me? Any experiences with that problem around here?  Thanks

Did you try pressing the menu button after you got through date/time/language?

Did you also save your previous preferences/profiles to the card as part of the update procedure?

I called B+H technological help and they suggested to take out battery for 2 - 3 minutes, reinsert it, go through the 3 set set-up points until date and time , see that they are all ok, and then press Menu and then  press the exposure button lightly ... AND the screen came on, I could set up my menu items again and all is fine , image taking wise.  Wow. So that is the trick: remove battery for a while, take batt out, and all came back on, light shutter press will unbrick the camera.

Seems like a lot of steps!  I updated when I got the Leica email, did my Q3 first, all went well, none of the problems you list.  I then upgraded my D-Lux 8, same, no issues, could be just a one time glitch?  Great that you got it working!

Does one need to have already installed firmware 3.0 in order to perform the 3.1.1 update?

No. 3.11 should include all the previous firmware changes.

Exact same thing happened to me. Just posted about it on the other firmware v3.1.1 post. Didn’t see this one. Mines a Q3 43 and was stuck on same page, unable to get out of it. Didn’t take the battery out but left the camera switched off for about an hour. Switched back on and it cleared. Strange.

Well, same thing just happened to me too (3.1.1 install, reboot, stuck at region/time screen). Steps: Updated to 3.1.1 via Fotos, update installed, camera reboot, Leica Q3 fancy animation, I set the region and time and then stuck. Pulled the battery, waited 3 minutes, reinserted battery and booted, set the region and time again, hit the menu button and half-shutter press and bingo... camera back to life and camera information now shows: Firmware 3.1.1.   We might be seeing 3.1.2 coming soon 😐
