That is a shame but I don’t mind popping a silver or black battery in. For now I’ll keep using the green one. My camera is for use, not show or display so not going to worry now about potential resale issues. The dealer offered me a 90mm Safari lens which was still sealed and which someone had traded in. No objection and I bought the lens but find it hard to understand why people buy these things only to “not use” them. Within 10 minutes of coming home I had unsealed and unboxed the lens and it now lives in my camera bag for portrait opportunities 😂

Me too, so I got glossy black paint. I can't see eye to eye to green. It's just ugly in my dictionary.

Hope M11-P black paint glossy will come soon

I feel the opposite and appreciate the weight saving of the black chrome but with any paint that wears off easily, it has to be brass underneath for me too. Although I think the Safari looks awesome, I actually find the silver M11-P the most attractive. The script on the top plate in contrast with the silver looks lovely.

Anyone care to post a pic of their Safari outdoors, e.g. in direct sunlight?
Trying to visualize if the colour of the camera stands out too much/is too conspicuous out in the open, during street photography for example.
(If I managed to get one, it'd be coupled with a black cron 35mm or an Elmarit 28mm.)

Nice! Leica strap?

Yes it is a Leica strap. It needs a bit of use to get it supple but it’s a nice strap.

Of course it's conspicuous. Isn't that the whole reason people pay a premium for the Safari?

Anyone with a camera will stand out except if you're in a place like Japan where loads of people carry cameras. I have friends who are not into cameras at all and don't look out for them but they spot street photographers whether they have a black paint leica, SLR, mirrorless. You've got something in your hand, around your neck. If people are so lost in their worlds and just want to get on with their business may not notice anything but anyone who is present will see someone carrying a camera even if they don't say it.

Buy what you like end of the day and don't worry about others.

So true. I was in Varanassi, India with an X2D, with every logo taped, over my shoulder. I was stopped multiple times daily by other tourists asking how I liked the camera. Same with Leicas on other trips. I never get asked about my Sonys but that’s because they’re boring, not invisible.

I was in Varanassi few years ago, nobody cares about my camera. Instead they want me to take their photos. Best time ever if you are into taking photos of strangers.

Finally got around to joining in.  Got it a few weeks ago.  I really like the little be of extra weight.  It makes it feel better to me.
