leica dream Posted April 5 Share #1 Posted April 5 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am keen to experiment with my newly acquired Leica R6.2 but need some advice. My preference is for Black/white so I habitually use FP4 which my previous camera handled sensibly. However the 6.2 ISO setting options are 100/200 and so on, and it looks like there is no inbetween setting.. From experience, can anybody suggest the most appropriate settings to give best results in this circumstance - 200 or 100 with adjusted shutter settings? I'd be grateful for advice. Advertisement Posted April 5 Posted April 5 Hi leica dream, Take a look here R6 ISO setting. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
spydrxx Posted April 5 Share #2 Posted April 5 Take your choice. Remember that film has a lot of latitude a 1 stop isn't really significant. The trick is in the metering.
S/W Posted April 5 Share #3 Posted April 5 I've just had another look at the ISO setting on my R 6.2 to be on the safe side and there's no problem setting it to 125 ISO (ASA/21 DIN). There is a small line for 125 and 160, not as big as the number, but still recognizable. Just give it a try. Apart from that, film - as spydrxx has already said and especially the FP4+ - is more forgiving than you might think. Have fun with the R 6.2, which is a really great SLR camera 😀

For FP4 I'd use the first "click" past 100. (Set it at 100, press the ISO lock button and just as you start to turn away from 100 let the button up as you turn and it will click into the next setting.) Eclectic Man Posted April 5 Share #5 Posted April 5 I used to have an R6.2, as I recall the ISO setting operation was the same as on the R5. I used the first available between ISO 100 and ISO 200 as shown here: Welcome, dear visitor! leica dream Posted April 5 Author Share #6 Posted April 5 You guys are really a gold mine - thank you so much. Just trying to get to know the camera itself I had not noticed that tiny slot above the main number. We never stop learning! I have just traded my R3 for this camera and amazed that it came with original display box and packaging, unused strap and original instruction leaflet (I had downloaded a copy already) but extremely inpressed with the quality visually so shall attach my Summicron 50mm f2 lens and get shooting.
davidmknoble Posted April 16 Share #7 Posted April 16 Advertisement (gone after registration) @leica dream the 6.2 is an amazing camera and one of the few with a fully manual shutter. No battery necessary except for metering! Great choice!
Eclectic Man Posted April 17 Share #8 Posted April 17 @davidmknoble The R6.2 is indeed a great and almost fully mechanical camera. I say almost, because, as I recall, mine needed batteries for the self-timer as well as the light meter.
davidmknoble Posted April 18 Share #9 Posted April 18 It may need it for the self timer, I do not recall. I can tell you over 8 years I have only used my M3 self timer once! I haven't missed that on the R6.2. Good catch. David.

You re right, I do not recall any occasion on which I actually used the self-timer on my R6.2, I did use it on my R5 a few times though.
