The Q2 (and as far i remember the Q as well) was most likely designed to have least possible openings, she does not have even a USB Port.
This decision is basically right for a fixed lens camera but does not work as intended as some reported dust inside the Q2 where the mic and speaker openings are most likely to blame so i taped them shut.
The Q/Q2/Q3 is a excellent camera, particularly for travelling light and small, but absolutely not for any video application where audio quality is a key point and Leica has heard the voices calling for USB and audio port and installed them on the Q3.

Here are some treads how to make it work, do a search.

The Q series was meant to be a compact, (fairly) light travel and everyday carry camera.

I don’t get how some don’t get this and want it to be a do everything camera.  If they added all these things everyone comes up with it the camera would be 50% bigger and heavier.

Any EVF camera or even any camera with live view is already a video camera, so leaving out that feature is more like crippling the functionality rather than cramming more in. A Q camera without video is a camera with no way to photograph at all.

I see the Q as a 'do anything' camera within the limits of its form factor and the concept of a fixed lens camera: the crop tools give you (digital) zoom, it does macro, it does video, it does point-and-shoot and fully manual operation, and the quiet shutter gives it more use scenarios than most other cameras.

I just realized that the YT video about Rhode Mic's on Q2 i found was not inserted.

There are probably more solutions doing a extensive search here and in internet.

I once wrote and even sent a photo that the Q2 has a USB connector, but it is located under the bottom panel and its purpose is unclear.

Could use a separate audio recorder and sync audio with video late in the editor?

yeah, I know, more expense, more sh*t to carry.....maybe the Q2 isn't the right tool for the job.

I wanted to bring just one camera to my business trips, and use Q2 for some vlogging.  Alas, I've realized it has no microphone input!  What on earth!  Even the M-P 240 has an adapter with the microphone jack.

Perhaps a silly question... but has anyone ever ask Leica if it's possible to add a send /receive device like DJI/Rode offers with their mike systems that could work with a little "magic" firmware/software update, record sound on the Q2 via the hot shoe?  I seem to recall Nikon, Sony or Hasselblad made an update that accommodated this. Seems like Leica marketing would prefer you to just buy the newer versions Q3, Q3 43 but could be good for those buying the still great Q, Q2 cameras,...those being from personal experience, the "gateway" to  other Leica cameras systems.

Bollocks.  Dr Paul Wolf traveled with both a cine camera and Leica ii, Barnack conceived the Leica as an exposure meter for filming  and Leica built the Leicina. Leica builds C mount lenses
