Advertisement Posted March 9 Posted March 9 Hi jaapv, Take a look here Third party battery BP-SCL4. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Coral Palm Posted March 9 Share #2 Posted March 9 No experience with it yet I can pretty much guarantee if there is a problem your Leica warranty will be voided as you did not use an original Leica battery. Some years ago a friend used a 3rd party battery in his Nikon or Canon forget which, battery leaked or some problem and they would not honor camera warranty. Yes I hate coughing up the Leica battery prices yet I know far cheaper than having to have the camera repaired due to a problem 3rd party battery. CptSlevin Posted March 9 Share #3 Posted March 9 Just use BP SCL 6, it's cheaper than 4, all third party batteries are prone to fail, especially for Leicas
PhotoCruiser Posted March 9 Share #4 Posted March 9 (edited) The BP-SCL6 cost about 25$ more than the BP-SCL4 in Europe and i guess some dealer raised the prices because of scarce availability, however, the 175-200$ SCL6 works flawless in the Q2/SL2. I never had any quality problem with non OEM Batteries for my other cameras, nor low run time nor catching fire. Unfortunately i was not able to find non Leica BP-SCL4/6 in Europe to ship to Switzerland so i bit the bullet and bought a BP-SCL6 for my SL2 and Q2 for 175€ instead about 150€ for the SCL4. Zitat Has anybody experience with this third party battery? I tried on Amazon but could not have them shipped to Switzerland or Italy. If you can, the i would try, worst case would be wasting the money. Temu, Alibaba and thos stores may have only one, or two considerable cheaper. Photoworks Posted March 9 Share #5 Posted March 9 I now have 14 batteries for my SL camera 3rd party batteries are usually okay, but you still get the warning on the SL3. Original batteries have worked much better over the years, 3rd party need to be replaced sooner because the start to hold less power over time. I have gotten a few used at B&H, BP-SCL6 for $135. More than a couple… I use the cameras where recharging is sparse. Normally for two bodies I would take six.
