-MR- Posted March 2 Share #1 Posted March 2 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello! I plan to buy the Leica Q3 28mm. A camera strap is included in the package. However, many buyers want to use a different strap or are asking for alternatives. What’s wrong with the included strap of the Q3? I’ve read here and there that the included strap "can be dangerous" and might "tear". Is that true? What model of the camera strap is it (model number)? I am not picky when it comes to camera straps (I usually don’t use any), but the strap should still be reliable. A tear would be catastrophic. (Aside from that: Could one strangle zombies with the included strap in a zombie apocalypse?) Thank you for all answers! 🦕 Edited March 2 by -MR-

Declan74 Posted March 2 Share #3 Posted March 2 As above. Unless you need bling. 1
bobtodrick Posted March 2 Share #4 Posted March 2 5 minutes ago, Declan74 said: As above. Unless you need bling. Exactly Have sold countless straps over the years. And sometimes they fail…Peak Design, Black Rapid and yes even one Leica strap that I recall (luckily the customers M10 Monochrom landed on grass). But the main reason Leica owners buy different straps is because they like to say they have a $300 strap on their camera 😂 2
jaapv Posted March 2 Share #5 Posted March 2 You are not a fully accredited Leica owner unless you spend at least 20% of the price of the camera on accessories you don’t need - and then complain about the price of a spare battery. 2 2
JNK100 Posted March 2 Share #6 Posted March 2 On second thoughts, the strap would probably be dangerous if an attempt was made to strangle someone with it.
-MR- Posted March 2 Author Share #7 Posted March 2 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) I had a great idea!!! I will use two straps with the Q3! So everything is safe! 🦭🦖 Edited March 2 by -MR-
ktmrider2 Posted March 3 Share #8 Posted March 3 (edited) My complaint about the strap is it too long for my taste. I will correct that once I return to the USA by finding a leather worker and we will shorten the strap by 10-15 cm (4-6 inches). Also, a non-slip pad so to reduce the tendency to slide off my shoulder would be nice. Edited March 3 by ktmrider2
jjroroek Posted March 3 Share #9 Posted March 3 (edited) i realy had a problem with the standard leica strap on the m240. ( it was torn i think the 240 was to heeavy for it) after that i use for years an old model nylon leica strap. the q3 is much lighter than the m240 but for me the standard strap of the q3 was a little to short en the upperpart to thin. i realy like the confort of larger rubber upperpart of my strap Welcome, dear visitor! M11 for me Posted March 3 Share #10 Posted March 3 I do not like to original strap. It is cheap leather and quite stiff. I never used it for that reason. I would advise you to do exactly what you wrote in your post #7: Start with the strap that is included in the box. You will find out if you like it. And then there is plenty of time to open a new thread: "What strap should I buy for my Q3". I will then disclose my choice.

Miltz Posted March 4 Share #12 Posted March 4 What you "read here and there" sounds like complete BS. The strap is great, no issues. I've had all 3 Q's FYI. never bought a strap.
microview Posted March 4 Share #13 Posted March 4 Some might prefer not to use leather straps for ethical reasons. However, even the Artisan and Artist straps have a small leather end-piece to avoid metal rings touching the camera
