pedaes Posted September 6 Share #367 Posted September 6 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) This lens receives a very positive review in the latest issue of Black & White Photography that landed this morning. Shame they got one key fact wrong - it doesn't have a retractable hood! Wish it did (not really). They call it the perfect portrait lens - as demonstrated by @didier's lovely image #361 above. I've seen a short comparison on FM forum, a guy did a few comparison pictures with both lenses. His conclusion was (IIRC) the V3 was a bit sharper at the point of focus and the Classic had smoother bokeh.

Just noticed another error in the review, which says: "It can also focus closer, with a close focusing distance of 45cm rather than the historical 1m." The Classic actually focuses to 70cm. It's the latest Summilux that has the 45cm close focus, but I guess it's easy to get confused with all this different variants. Still a good review on a great lens that has been glued to my Monochrom since purchase.

Her smile, the dress, the pose, in combination with the light and how the lens draws (and editing?). It has a feel from a different age.. like from the 90ies.. may I ask which aperture this was shot? what ever, this proves more than everything, that photography creates beautiful memories, no matter which gear you use, unless you feel the picture. this one I feel, it has many layers that speak to me. I think to myself that one day will say about this photo "that was really her".. it feels authentic, although I don't know anything about that person. I don't know if the asph. can achieve the same effect.. maybe.. but different.. Have to edit this post due to my ridiculous comment. I mixed up the post and quoted the wrong one. Didn't know how to delete.... Sorry guys! Edited September 17 by PeLu
