Advertisement Posted November 22 Posted November 22 Hi Ken Abrahams, Take a look here Modern Classic: Leica Summilux-M 50 mm f1.4 . I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
catacore Posted November 24 Share #402 Posted November 24 (edited) My saga with this lens continues.....I have bough it again! 🙃 The aperture ring, to me, is still on the loose side of things, but I will, probably, get used to this. In the end, it is a cheap lens (in Leica terms) 😆 But my problem, now, is that I can't mount it on my M6 Titanium camera. It will fit inside the mount, but I can't rotate it to click/lock it in place. Bummer! Waiting now for a word from my dealer. Meanwhile, an image from the weekend. Welcome, dear visitor! It was a struggle for any lenses to turn and lock; on that camera one of the spring plates was bent slightly too far, so the first of the fingers at the base of the lens would catch. Well, I can mount all my other M-mount lenses (Leica, Voigtlander, Zeiss) on that M6 body. I can, also, mount the Summilux Classic 50mm on my M-P240 and on my M3 camera bodies. Go figure! catacore Posted November 28 Share #405 Posted November 28 Back to the dealer she went! Second try. That aperture ring was an annoyance, really. I guess I'll chase this lens down until I get trying it in a store, then buy it again. I simply love its rendering. Welcome, dear visitor! catacore Posted December 2 Share #408 Posted December 2 A question to all Summilux Classic users that care to answer: is the aperture ring of your lens loose (or loose-ish)? Anyone with a lens that has a "normal" feel aperture ring (like the 50 Lux ASPH, for instance)? I am just curious if there is any chance for me to find a Classic 11714 lens with normal/standard feel aperture ring. Thanks!
kkochheiser Posted December 2 Share #409 Posted December 2 Mine is just perfect. No play in either dimension, very much like my APO 35. Not too stiff but tight enough not to get bumped from where it was set. Kent

My only issue is that after purchasing a nice chrome (Leica) filter, the lens cap is now quite loose. Was a tight fit without the filter. Sorry you've had such a problem. Yes, I too have the Leica chrome rim filter and I have noticed the original push-on lens cap became loose after fitting the filter. But I never use this push-on caps for the fear of missing them. I always use clip-on lens caps.

EltonPL Posted December 4 Share #414 Posted December 4 My aperture ring feels the same as my Summilux 50 ASPH BC. Just right.
catacore Posted December 4 Share #415 Posted December 4 Thanks guys! I've been told some dealer has got to try several 50mm Lux Classic lenses in Wetzlar, and he found both "loose"-ish and "tight"-ish type of aperture ring action, and was told this is normal. Well, I am really puzzled (by this "normal"-ness).
