It’s a new lens release so I totally understand why people will want to have an exclusive image thread dedicated to this specific model. The pre-ASPH thread is great though so it would be cool to have more people posting there in the future. (Totally selfish view as it’s easier for me to see comparisons as I’m on there a fair bit!)

Well jolly good Evikine, that sounds like an invite to your page and to be a part of the Summilux Pre Asph image page. That is very good of you lot to invite the Classic Release images over, even though "we" have been tweaked over a bit and a bit of fun had to what to call being "born out of sequence" lens. 😀

Costume face paint with Celtic symbols. https://beltane.org/about/

For those watching in black and white - yellow and light blue, paired with an orange Hi-viz vest 😉

Are these Classic lenses limited edition or part of the normal catalogue? The 35 Steelrim seems pretty scarce.

Both the 35 and 50mm classic line lenses are readily available from stock in UK stores. Guess the economy is slow as there was no backorder situation for 50mm 11714 even immediately after the launch.

The “Leica Store” here in New Zealand (which is a branded website run by the importer rather than an actual Leica Store) shows the Steelrim simply as “Sold Out”.

I don’t know whether that is a permanent or temporary situation.

Leica make good lenses, particularly 50mm.  The latest non-asph Lux 50mm reissue ( doesn't matter it is reissue of V1 or V2 ) for sure is another good lens.   So far the major difference from Lux 50mm that I am having ( v3 and asph V1 ) is longer focus thrown for more accurate focusing.  If I were going to buy a 50mm lens today, I really didn't know which one to pick.

have been happily using Lux v3 during film era, only add Lux asph v1 at digital era as I find Lux v3 is weak ( soft ) at close distance .... Lux asph v1 nevertheless cannot replace Lux v3 since I don't like its bokeh with ninja shape ( meaning not round circle ) and onion rings ( below photo f/2.8 )

SL3 . . . cropped.  I think it was f2.8.  Lens is certainly sharp and the fall off in focus is nice.
