Leica's are pricey!

I don't think you will even find some bad third party batteries. Do you have a Leica M11? And want to blow the Warranty with third party batteries?

I've had some experiences with non-OEM batteries for other cameras. Those experiences are the reason I would never, ever use a 3rd-party battery in one of my Leica bodies.

Even the well-reviewed batteries that are widely enough distributed so as to be a recognizable brand have proven unsuitable.

One of the problems: swelling. Eventually, maybe because of heat, they swell slightly, a barely discernable bulge appearing. If this happens while the battery is in the camera, well, I don't even like to think about it.

Yes, Leica batteries are expensive compared to 3rd-party knockoffs. But they're way cheaper over the long haul than film, and chemicals, not to mention a trip to the repairman to deal with a body that have been damaged by a swelling battery.

Just ain't worth it.

Buy a second, genuine battery when your timing and wallet permit. Then eventually, buy a third. You probably won't need more than that.

Hello, Are there any good third-party batteries that you can recommend? I'm looking to buy a couple but the Leica ones are pricey!

No third party batteries available since the M9. Leica have proprietary software chip on their batteries so third parties can't manufacture them. They saw that they were losing too much $$$ on M8/M9 batteries due to third parties.

I've not used 3rd party with my M cameras, but have with my original Q.  Some (wasabi power) were meh at best, lasting maybe 70% as long as the original even though the stated capacity was larger.  The battery branded LUMIX/Panasonic seemed to be the equivalent of the Leica branded battery that came with the Q.

The battery on the M11 lasts so long I've never felt the need for a spare.  My M 262 was similar... I finally had to buy a replacement because the original battery wasn't holding enough of a charge to update firmware!  I'll buy a Leica battery for my M11 when the original battery wears out.

How many times does this need to be repeated: there are ONLY, and will be ONLY into the future, Leica branded batteries for the 240/M10/11/ 12/13/14... SL2/3/4... Q3 and so on... (I could be slightly wrong on which Q and SL series as I don't own those).

You know, I have always had three or more batteries for each Leica digital camera since the M8.2.  Now I own the M11 and M11M and only have one extra battery for the two cameras.  I have yet to encounter a day when one extra wouldn't suffice.  These cameras have wonderful battery life.

I concur the battery life is great with my. M11-P and the only time I'm pleased to have an additional battery  is when I'm using the EVF Viso for my 21 or 75.
