How do you count eight shots? What do you mean it is not a separate setting? After a recent update, you should have a handheld or tripod option (Handheld High Res ON or Off). Don't you? If you don't, you do not have a handheld multishot in your camera.

In the video below, Richard Wong compares handheld vs. tripod multishot using s5 II. His findings probably apply to SL3-S as well. He also says that tripod mode needs eight shots while handheld needs 16 shots.

Does not SL3-S show while capturing? just count?

Where did you get this information from? Source please. Thanks.

I will try to collect the articles that describe it. It has been a long time since I read them.

P.S.: Since OM Systems took over Olympus, the original documents are hard to find or have been removed.

No, the screen goes dark, and you wait until it starts assembling the image and finishes writing it to the card. I can time the time it takes to collect the pictures (finishes exposure).

Sorry I’m off on holiday. I’ll be back in a few weeks, dig out the camera and recount the shots for you.

If you do not have the handheld option, you are always shooting eight shots.

Those steps here in processing i meant. Could imagine each image is a step?

My biggest surprise to your statement was:

"No handheld multishot on market relies on IBIS to shift sensor. "

I will ask Leica Miami store since I know them and they are a serious source.

The progress bar that you see appears after the images have been taken. It describes only the progress of the multishot assembly.

I fear only Wetzlar knows right now. They are on it pretty sure. Not absolutely sure.

Yes, my statement is unclear. IBIS is mandatory for handheld multishots but is not used for pixel shift. Instead, it keeps the sensor stable between the shots and is likely turned briefly off between the shots to increase the resolution of the final image (superresolution method). IBIS is turned off for pixel shift (tripod mode) as you cannot pixel shift and stabilize.

You cannot use it to count how many shots have been taken.

Why speculate. Just go over the SFO Leica store, handle one and see how it works and ask serious questions.

I own an SL3-S, as well as S9 and Olympus cameras. Everything I wrote about was based on my own observations and measurements.

There is no Leica store in SFO (the airport) 😂.

Stores here in Berlin are critical on handheld as well. Leica will fix it! I am super sure! Firmware issues are just normal at start. Anyway SL3-S has excellent firmware IMO. Did not see any bug so far! Leica did outstanding for new baby IMO!

3200 ISO Handheld Multishot SVE 14-24 SL, F4 1/250 sec I woould have thought I was moving too much as I am not steady anymore and the wind was almost gale factor.

Adobe Enhance DeNoise applied in Lightroom and some small amounts of sharpening in Camera Raw at the end of workflow. PS the shadow areas of the posts seem to have artefacts but could bring a couple of sliders back to help that

One advantage of multishot is that it reduces noise. I use it occasionally for that reason only.
