geotrupede Posted January 14 Share #1 Posted January 14 Advertisement (gone after registration) Any experience with SL2S and this lens I am interested in quality when at f8 / f 11 and how fast in low light autofocus at f3.5 any empirical data much appreciated G
Advertisement Posted January 14 Posted January 14 Hi geotrupede, Take a look here SL2S + Sigma 24mm f/3.5 DG DN Contemporary. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
hoolyproductions Posted January 15 Share #2 Posted January 15 (edited) I find it to be an excellent little lens when I want to travel light. If you search here you will find it is highly regarded by some photographers who are more skilled/demanding of quality than I am. Here a couple of examples with the SL2-S (and SL2) Autofocus seems fine to me, no issues. I don't use this lens in really low light, I would take an f2 for that f18 (to provoke sunstars) Welcome, dear visitor! Small and optically excellent.
beewee Posted January 16 Share #8 Posted January 16 Resolution is very good when stopped down to f/5.6-f/8. It will resolve to the pixel in the corners, even when shooting 96 MP multishot images.
Chris Nebard Posted January 16 Share #9 Posted January 16 I think it’s a brilliant little lens. There are plenty of users on LUF - more technically aware than me - who swear by it. It is supposed to be optically outstanding. All I know is that the output can be superb and (along with other small Sigma DG DN Contemporaries) it’s also nicely built. F3.5 isn’t an issue when the SL2-S is so effective in low light - including its IBIS of course (eg longer handheld exposures for interiors) unless you’re shooting moving subjects.
