ellisson Posted January 11 Share #1 Posted January 11 Advertisement (gone after registration) My Apo-Summicron M 75mm lens was found to have a small area of fungal involvement on the edge of a glass element. It was identified by KEH when I tried to sell it. Of course, they offered very little for the lens and I had it returned. Image quality remains excellent, but I would like to have the fungal involvement evaluated and removed before it advances. Does Leica USA or anyone else do this work? Who/where is best to send this lens to? Suggestions/recommendations appreciated.
Advertisement Posted January 11 Posted January 11 Hi ellisson, Take a look here Where to send an apo-summicron lens with a small area of fungal involvement?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
earleygallery Posted January 11 Share #2 Posted January 11 I don't know where you should send it but for now, leave it wide open, off the camera, facing sunlight (careful not to leave it in front of anything it could burn!) to kill the fungus and stop further spreading. GregNski Posted January 11 Share #3 Posted January 11 I sent a fungused lens to DAG for cleaning. He didn't get everything off, there's a little "scar" where the fungus was, but it's much better than it was.

On most situation there will always be a cleaning marks, and depending on the severe of the fungus spread, would decide how pronounced the cleaning marks would be i think DAG has made sure the least mount of marks left behind
