tempted by SL2-S

Given the sale of SL2-S, it's almost only half of the regular price, I am really tempted.

I have come from Q2, then Q3 and now Q3-43, and M-systems (M11, M10-R...etc), with bunch of M lenses. Is it a good idea to just have fun with SL2-S?

I don't have any specific use cases that I need to use SL2-S, I just feel guilty to let this price go.

by the way, I also have Nikon system, old D850 and now mirrorless Zf, Z8.

Long-time M user here, a CL in my cupboard, SL 601, Panasonic S5ii, etc. full set of M lenses, R lenses. Within a few days the SL2S has rabiply become my carry-everywher e camera.

Edit. Unlike Jaap, I wouldn't carry it everywhere - too bulky and heavy for me. YMMV

A very tempting price - but 920g (in battery) + adaptor + lens of the day means it is out of the question for me.  I can manage my V-Lux 5's 812g but nowadays that is my limit (sadly).

Well (each with Summicron 50 (M or SL respectively) a weight difference of 865 vs. 1290 grams is fairly irrelevant, especially if one is in the habit of carrying the camera diagonally. Not considering all the odds and ends like grips, halfcases, thumbies, EVFs  and what have you that M cameras seem to need nowadays... MMDV

SL2-S is fun If you like shooting with older lenses which would have focus shift problems on Ms. Just opens more possibilities in that regard.

Let me rest over the Christmas and decide afterwards. If I still itch for that 1 week later I will pull the trigger .

B&H is currently having it almost like half price with a free extra battery and M to L adapter. It’s almost too good to miss that

so you are saying I should use M lenses adapted to it?

Mix and match. Presently for me: Summilux 24-M, Summicron 50 SL Sigma 70-200 as base kit. For wildlife of course the Sigma 150-600  For the rest a drawer full of M  lenses. Oh-and the Sigma 28-70 for quick and easy.

M lenses are great. On a M. But also on the SL. But the native lenses are one step up, they say.

Having the same itch: M lenses sitting in the closet, plus the odd need for a longer lens (likely Sigma) for occasional use. Somehow the Swiss-army knife approach of an SL2 at these prices might make some sense.

Ordered the Sl2-S from B&H, the price was too good to pass up since it also includes and extra battery and Leica M to L adapter which is unfortunately back ordered.

I ordered the same thing 3 weeks ago and though the adapter was backordered when I placed the order as well, it arrived only a week or so after the camera and everything else.

What he's saying is that if you pick up any one of the SL APO primes you're about to take a trip down a long and expensive road... albeit a great one.

I've been waiting on the adapter since Dec. 10. It's moved to backorder status, which means they have no idea when it's coming now. The silver version shows temporarily out of stock and not backorder, meaning it will be coming back in a reasonable amount of time. I'm thinking about calling B&H and seeing if they can convert the adapter cost to a store credit.

I've had it in my cart for a while now. Its a little less attractive here in singapore due to shipping and import tariffs😔. If i was home I would have bought it as soon as the price dropped.

 A local dealer has a new SL2-S and a secondhand SL2-S being sold with 35 SL Summicron ASPH, both selling for the same price. I’m thinking about visiting tomorrow. I just can’t decide which might be the better option for me. I only have M lenses … I’d appreciate any insights.

My tuppence worth…If the used camera looks like it’s been treated well in its previous life, take the “free” lens for sure. 
 

M lenses are wonderful on the SL but having at least one native lens will allow you to enjoy the camera as it was designed to be used too.
