Q fails to boot

Hello,

looking to brainstorm about possible issues with the leica Q:

 

"Camera powers on, but the lcd and viewfinder do not show the menu. The lcd backlight comes on". 

 

Any input would be appreciated! Thank you.

Normally the camera  does not show a menu on startup but the image. Did you leave the lens cap on?

Thank you for your reply. The lens cap is off, but the software does not display.

What happens when you attempt to enter the menu screen?  Otherwise remove the battery, wait a minute or so and reinsert.

Camera has been tested with multiple batteries. The backlight on the lcd lights up, but images are not displaying. No menu, no image.

you tested different SD cards as well? Weirdest things can happen if the camera accesses a faulty SD card.

Same behavior through EVF? If no, then it is likely the LCD screen or data transfer to it, if yes, then continue with next step.

does the shutter release, do you hear the AF?  No, then it could be everything up to a total electronic failure. If yes, do you get any images on an SD card? If no, electronic failure, if yes probably only the display electronics is failing.

Thank you so much for such a thorough response! A lot of good points for me to troubleshoot. You really helped me create an overarching test plan with a rough idea of possible issues.
