Hi guys,

Especially interested in anyone who has both or used both. I want the one that is the sharpest… I know how good the APO lenses are, but, I know the 14-24 is also very good. Also I would tend to stop down wide lenses, I often use them in portrait orientation so I end up bringing foreground into the image that I was in focus. So unlike the 35/75/90 apo I have I don’t think I’d use f2 that much…

Any thoughts or anyone that’s use these both would be great to hear from?

Thanks

I'm also interested in this comparison. Still don't know what to do on wide angle side... One path is Super Elmar 21 that can be used on M10 as well as SL2s (with some optical quality loss in corners), the other also interesting path is SL zoom or 21 Cron...

Right now I'm thinking to about Cron 21 for my SL2s and Voigtlander 21/4 for M. I used to own 21/4 and was happy with results until Leica bug bit me and than "upgraded" to SEM, "downgraded" to Elmarit pre ASPH, sold also this one and went on 1 year of deGASing treatment😅 to consolidate my thoughts and finance.

Thanks guys,

I do have the 16-28, I think something is bugging me about wanting something 'better' but I dont think the 14-24 is the answer.

I already have the 14mm F1.4 for astro and rarely ever need 14mm other than that. I think the 21 APO is the way I am going to go... Also, if I avoid that lens, it'll only be a temporary thing, I will end up buying it down the road... I know me :)

I rented the 14-24 and then bought the 21APO.  There is a 21 APO image thread if you want to see some photos.  To me, the 21 APO renders more like a "wide normal" in that there isn't much stretching at the edges.  I agree with Geoff, it's a great wide angle for taking photos of people.  Also, if you're doing high contrast black and white, all the APO SL lenses have a look that is different than the non-APO lenses.

FWIW, the 14-24 is still very good, though.
