I have gone through the differences between both cameras. There is about $2200 difference between a used M11 and M11P that I am looking for. Which one would you recommend. I am leaning towards M11P as I am upgrading after 10 years. Thank You for reading.

M11P benefits are bigger internal storage, Content Credentials, sapphire glass, and probably a warranty

- I never use internal storage, for me the SD card is easier to take about and load images on the computer. Internal memory requires USB+Lightroom.

- at this point I have no use for Content Credentials, and it is still not supported in to many places.

- sapphire glass is nice but a screen protector works well too.

- Warranty is the only question. some cameras could already have 3 years of warranty if it was registered.

I am very happy with the M11, I would use the money on a Visoflex and or lenses.

I did the fuzzy math on this and went with the M11P, primarily because I figured I'd have the most accurate rangefinder. You never know if you buy something used, and it got knocked in one direction or another, and suddenly you have an uncalibrated rangefinder that you'll need to send in. Granted, I'm not sure how reasonable or rational that logic was, just the one that I went with. Someone with more experience can tell me I wasted away the $2k, which is fine.

I do really like the internal storage, but 100% of the time, I'm pulling out the SD card for quicker transfers. It's a nice piece-of-mind, though, I guess!

I had the same decision to make this week after selling my Black M11 last year when i had no time as our newborn son needed both hands and all my focus. Now he's a bit older and can walk around a bit with daycare in the day, I find myself able to pursue photography again, so I swapped my Q3 back to an M.

I usually buy used as I'm not so worried about initial issues with most shops offering at least 6 months warranty. If it doesn't fail in the initial period it seems pretty good at least in my experience over the years.

I first went for a Silver M11 and received it to find it was dented when it was meant to be 'Excellent'. Back it goes... I then tried to buy another Silver M11, but by chance that website was hacked or had some kind of issue so the stock wasn't actually available. They cancelled my order and now I wait for that refund too.
At that point i thought f it, after spending this much cash i may as well spend a bit more and buy something that made me happiest with a silver M11-P. Under 1 yr old. My CC has about 20K worth of Leica M11's on it until the return the cash back for the other two cameras!
I also repurchased a 35 lux pre asph as i did enjoy that lens even though it's a bit crazy wide open. I usually stick with a 28mm Summicron v2 though for most things, neglecting that 35 lux and 50mm Elmar M.

I went through the process and ended up with the M11-P. The larger extra storage is nice in case I forget to reinsert my SD card and the stronger rear LCD glass is nice, but I still bought a cheap protector. The content credentials do not matter to me. I am a sucker for the top plate engraving though, I love it! I found a nice used/as new M11-P on B&H almost a year ago with no regrets. Honestly, I try to get the newest, most recent version I can afford/justify when I look to buy but the engraving sealed the deal for me. It has turned out to be a very reliable camera for me, just like the M10-R before it.

If you purchased an m11-p used then the warranty transfers. I emailed Leica today to transfer the registration to me and confirm warranties. The registration and warranty has now been transferred to me and is covered until early 2027 thanks to the previous owner adding the extra year by registering. (They sold it after just 6 months! I guess it wasn’t for them…)

Interesting about the warranty.
I asked Leica CS the same, and was initially told (in a slightly cold ‘read the t’s & c’s ‘way) that the extra year isn’t passed onto the new owner, only the original owner that registered for the extension.
They later backtracked and said it was. To be honest it didn’t inspire huge confidence in the admin side and hope it doesn’t come to bite me in the future. If I keep it that long….
