I switch back and forth between a 6-bit coded and two different uncoded lenses without the camera resetting. I would exchange the camera for a new one if a second reset doesn’t work.

Some things to keep in mind that you probably already know:

On the D, the DNG and JPEG resolution settings in FOTOS are independent and never change with each other automatically.

File sizes of the lossless compressed DNGs vary by level of detail in the image, so if by chance you saw your DNGs were much larger all of a sudden, that might not mean the resolution setting changed.

Did you ever end up getting a response from Leica? I'm having the same issue where my settings will randomly reset to factory every now and then. Today it did it in the middle of a photo walk. Didn't change lenses or use the fotos app at all today. Basically the last half of my photo walk at Dusk was a complete waste since my Max Iso reset back to 3200 when I had originally set it to 8000 and my metering reset as well. All of my lenses are 6-bit coded as well. Very disappointed.

Hi, first you need to check your settings maybe accidentally profiles is selected on specific lens, where all default settings is applied on specific lens ;) .

Another point 6bit coding is very sensitive story, I have bought my M11-P from mpb and when received it started to check all looks fine no any funny issues at all and with 3d printer printed tool for 6bit coding for 35mm F2 voigtlander (bought with only one lens initially and original leica lens was on the way :) ) everything looks OK lens detected as I identified it till wanted to shoot at 4sec shutter speed and wow max 0.6-1.6 sec and shutter closed :D , same in BULB mode, then camera jumps to another profile and lost all settings from default .... looks total disaster and camera issue ... but

Cleaned all coding markings on lens to prepare camera to return to MPB 🥺because found another users messages with the same issues and faults in shutter system and decided that I am not lucky wit leica :( , reset settings to factory and just to be sure initialized without auto detection, manually selected lens and everything works as it is no issues at all with long shutter speed any funny things has gone :D

OK started another investigation session :) borrowed summilux with 6bit original coding and looks good no issues in auto lens detection mode, then the same scenario with DYI coding on voigtlander and all bad things there :D . then redesigned tool with personal measurement printed and everything is perfect now.

Conclusion very simple if coding process we are doing by our self very good tests is needed after that and first test where you can find than lens coded good or bad just set bulb mode and try if shutter closing by it self when button pressed safety part in camera thinks that something wrong with lens .... and a lot funny "leica bad camera" 😁 things will start.

At the end I have nice camera with no issues at all :) and happy with it.

I'm using the 28mm Summulix and it's 6-bit coding. I actually haven'y swapped the lenses much...its either the 28 or 50 Lux both are six bit coded. I also have the lens detection to be automatic. Even still, there shouldn't be an issue where the camera factory resets all my settings every other day. It's starting to get super frustrating.

Well, cleaning the code reader and checking the paint in the indentations would be my first thing to do.

They both look good to me, but I'm also not sure why the code reader or paint would cause the camera to forget all it's settings? (like stand by time, jpeg/raw, content credentials, connectivity set to off, all were reset to default settings)

Since the M11-D specifically has the option to reset itself with a button combination the only thing I can imagine is that somehow that happened during transport, it feels very unlikely to me but can't rule it out, or a software bug that somehow triggered it. Since the D doesn't have user profiles maybe the programming for it still exists and there is some switching happening somehow? I really don't know, and so far it only happened once for me, so I am curious if other people who reported this have updates and whether or not it's worth sending in my camera.

Doesn't sound normal at all. The camera should not do that if your lenses have been 6-bit coded by Leica and if the coding pits are perfecly clean. Time to send in the camera i'm afraid.

Yeah, I'll think a bit about it but feel like I probably should just in case. Was really hoping one of the previous people would give an update but alas. If I do send it in and get it back I'll post an update here but I think the estimate was at least 6 weeks turnaround time.
