chris_livsey Posted November 26, 2024 Share #21  Posted November 26, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) Over the years I have had some good items from MW but sometimes it has taken persistence to have them sent, once a I had a "can't find it credit coming", which took as much persistence again to get back and was not a small amount. Recently I ordered a small £47 Leica item still pending August 18, 2024 order date status on my account with MW just checked - Processing !! This is two months after my CC company processed a refund, no messing this time from me. To answer a query further back the credit is taken from the dealer's account balance on the monthly statement I understand. I have vowed to stop looking at the weekly updates, where does all that come from?

I have vowed to stop looking at the weekly updates, where does all that come from? I have given details to my CC bank now, too, as patience has run out. I can't be bothered to wait more weeks/months whilst he never responds. Thanks for the reassuring comment about the money coming out of the dealer's account, as I'd hate to think refunds may be written off by the CC and the dodgy retailer still keeps the money. I find it astonishing, looking at all the items added to the site each week. Who knows if it's all real? The website itself, the content with stock and the weekly updates all make it look like a professional, reliable business but I seriously wonder how much is fabricated. Incidentally, as part of the documented evidence I supplied to my bank, I captured the Ts & C's from the site and sent as PDF. It was interesting to see the statement that they do not actually take the money until the order is dispatched. Lol! Mine was taken straight away.

I also had not noticed that provision, I did fail to mention several e-mails and calls I made before resorting to the chargeback on the card, the credit card people do like to see evidence of persistent failure but I assume will also have a black list of traders where the process is familiar. 1

CatanDave Posted December 12, 2024 Author Share #27  Posted December 12, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) OP - I eventually got money bank via my bank refund process, no reply to any communication from MW. 1
FF3AF Posted October 9 Share #28 Â Posted October 9 I ordered and paid for a lens from them about seven months ago. The lens has never been sent, nor have they replied to my emails or phone calls. NEVER buy from this shop, no matter how good their offers are.
Pyrogallol Posted October 9 Share #29 Â Posted October 9 I have bought from their E Bay posting items because of the E Bay returns guarantee, but not from their own website. But now I will not buy from them at all since I recently bought a Canon rangefinder body that had a shutter fault with the blinds not opening at any speed, leading to a blank film. The refund was slow to the point that I asked E Bay to step in. They refunded me within 24 hours.
nf3996 Posted October 13 Share #30 Â Posted October 13 I've also learnt from my 'once bitten, twice shy' experiences with M W Classic and will now only buy from them via their presence on eBay. That said, I recently purchased a book from them via eBay and all went well - the book arrived within a week. Alan
Matlock Posted October 28 Share #31  Posted October 28 I recently watched an item (Rollei 35 book) from MW Classic on eBay. It was listed at £10 plus postage. The following day MW offered me a discount of £2 so £8 plus postage. The only other such item listed was from Germany with a total cost of around £30. I paid MW for the item and it arrived, very well packed in 3 days. I have dealt with MW in the past with no problems. It would seem that it is the luck of the draw dealing with them but I certainly won't grumble this time.
