Michael-IIIf Posted June 27, 2006 Share #6 Posted June 27, 2006 It looks like a Christo installation. Lovely.
marc_dufour Posted June 27, 2006 Author Share #7 Posted June 27, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Good remark, Michael :-) The fact is in this region, some lanscapes seems like the sea, because of so vast expanses with greenhouses for intensive agriculture. It's not so romantic as a Christo's work :-) Thanks for looking and comment. Marc
gverdon Posted June 27, 2006 Share #8 Posted June 27, 2006 Great landscape, Marc! But, there almost always is a "but"... ;-), but, for this one, you should have sticked to the "portrait" format: there is a terrific tension in the left part, but the right part is rather distracting... More sky and all the tension focused on the play moon-earth would have been stronger. A matter of taste, of course. Gérald
marc_dufour Posted June 27, 2006 Author Share #9 Posted June 27, 2006 Agree with you, Gérald. But the reflections on the posts appeal so to me, that I couldn't avoid them. Apart from strange voices in my head began to repeat: work with lanscape format, work with landscape format :-) Marc

leicar7 Posted June 28, 2006 Share #16 Posted June 28, 2006 I think this is very cleverly seen, and that the format is the correct one. The posts reflecting the light on the lower right balance the play between the moon and the unlit posts on the left. The largish space above the moon has its own visual weight, but my eye doesn't wander from the frame because the moon and the lighting in the lower right keep pulling it back in. I do have two questions, though. What is the source of the lighting on the right posts. Is it from the moon or from a source behind the photographer? Also, the lighting on the tips of the most forward posts looks like V's, but the ones behind are circular small spots. Any idea why? Good shot! marc_dufour Posted June 28, 2006 Author Share #17 Posted June 28, 2006 Thomas, First of all, thanks a lot for your interest, time and kind comments. About the light question: The light comes from the sun. It was behind me, at right (see the shadows on the hills) The plain is surrounded by low hills, wich casted a shade over it, excepting this little tips area (it was the reason to stop the car and take the picture). Behind the hills, in the background, is the sea. I suppose the sea itself reflected the last sun's rays. Second question (I just saw the slide, to be sure :-)) All the tips end with an "V" form. I suppose it's for leaning horizontal structures, used as supports for plastic protection of the greenhouse in winter. Tips are made of metallic material and because of the distance, the reflection of the cross made by vertical tip and "V", visually merge in one only circular spot. Well, Thomas, you made me lean on this picture a lot :-) A good exercise, I'm very grateful with you. Marc
