Female Emperor Dragonfly in flight – hovering.  Swaddywell Nature Reserve Cabin Pond near Peterborough UK.

Image was posted previously after PS Elements processing but this version reprocessed today via Photoshop 2023 and TOPAZ

Leica SL 601, Novoflex follow focus 640mm f9 / Leitz R 2x APO extender. Novoflex 'squeeze trigger' mount's built-in bellows at max extension for close-focus. Specimen approx 5m distance from camera position. Female emperor was ovipositing and repeatedly returned to same pond foliage area – where it hovered for a few seconds before 'dipping' tail to oviposit. Manual focus possible whilst hovering. The Novoflex 640mm N.O.S. lens module was a £50 bargain from Ffordes. Novoflex long focus lenses / mounts are modular – different lens tube lengths for each focal length. They work better with Leitz APO extenders.

Arca plate balanced at C.O.G. in Jobu gimbal's saddle.

BW, dunk
