Hi, today Adobe updated my Lightroom and the Catalogue. [Nice they do that service of managing the software.]

But . .  they also took the opportunity to tell me I 9now???0 have to pay a yealy €9.90 fee for being a valued member of the Adobe Community.

- I do not remember having paid that before. I do have a paid Lr that unfortunately has a bundled Ps that I never use (the crooks I'ld say from a client perspective; the geniusses I'ld say from an investors point of view, we are a captive audience ; Lr has a sort of monopoly position (- those who know Porter know about the barriers to exit that if treated well allow price increases, sorry that is my academic background), and can I just . . . Oh yes where was I before this rant?

Anyway, what is that membership stuff?

-

For sure it is not the Lr/Ps fee.

Any clarification helpfull as the website does not bring up anything meaningfull to me.

Can you describe how you updated your service (by phone, by clicked download?), and from what prior version?  If you are now on the latest LR version,  I don’t know any way to avoid the monthly subscription fee, as that’s the only pricing model AFAIK; only the monthly fee varies by plan.

AFAIK, 9.99/year is a typo, it should be per month.

So you don't believe him when he stated "For sure it is not the Lr/Ps fee."  Why not?

If I received such a statement I'd be asking Adobe, not the Leica Camera Forum.  Perhaps first I'd log into my Adobe account and go to what is called the "Plans and Payment" tab in english and see if that gives me more insight.

I suspect cock-up. It looks exactly the same as my Adobe bills except for the "jr" bit, where mine (in English) is "mo".

What the OP translates as 'Club', Deepl calls 'membership' - close enough to 'plan' (as in 'payment plan') to be the same IMO.

Ask Adobe.

Or check your bank/card account and see if they've taken two payments.

I looked at the membership page. It mentions the same date (Nov 7th) for my subscription to end. So I have to pay now a monthly fee, while before I used prepaid vouchers.

BUT . .  there is no mention of a yearly fee. The request for a yearly pay fee of € 9.99 is from within Lr (adobe log in). So it must be 'true'.

The chat: It may be possible because your plan is near renewal status.

Anyway the customer care rep helped me out. Indeed, should have read fee/month. And they forgot to say it is a yearly payment (I complain as I've worked in billing/CC for decades).

So if anyone gets that prompt, do it. it is a good bargain.!!!  (The vouchers that Andreas has from time to time are also great, about same price point).
