MikeRZ67 Posted October 18, 2024 Share #1 Posted October 18, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, I have a Nokton 28/1.5 and absolutely love that lens, but sometimes I'm looking for a softer, more classic look; less contrasy and sharp. What 28mm lens would fall into that category? The current Voigtländers all seem to follow a very modern look. So, basically I'm looking for rendering characteristics similar to the Nokton 35/1.4 II, just with 28mm. Thanks, Michael
Advertisement Posted October 18, 2024 Posted October 18, 2024 Hi MikeRZ67, Take a look here Looking for the Nokton 35/1.4 II of 28mm lenses. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
TomB_tx Posted October 18, 2024 Share #2 Posted October 18, 2024 (edited) Canon made a nice 28mm f2,8 ltm mount that is nice - if the aperture would work for you. Edited October 18, 2024 by TomB_tx
adan Posted October 18, 2024 Share #3 Posted October 18, 2024 The original 2000-2008 Voigtlander Ultron 28mm f/1.9 may be what you are looking for. Only made in Leica screw-mount, but trivially adaptable to M mount. Just a hint of "glow" at wider apertures. Generally gentle overall contrast. Bokeh variable with relative subject/background distances (bubble - or very smooth). Comes in both silver and black versions. https://forum.mflenses.com/voigtlander-ultron-28mm-f1-9-aspherical-in-m39-ltm-t72400.html https://kenrockwell.com/voigtlander/28mm-f19.htm https://www.keh.com/shop/voigtlander-28mm-f-1-9-ultron-aspherical-chrome-lens-for-leica-screw-mount-46-698706.html Not sure how well it handles digital color vignetting (Italian Flag Syndrome).

Matches well my Nokton 35/1.4 SC v2. It may have schneideritis spots though and its flange must be modded to bring up 28mm framelines. See this link. JoshuaR Posted October 18, 2024 Share #5 Posted October 18, 2024 There’s a new Light Lens Lab 28 that might be the right idea?

Thanks, Michael That may be a tough order as “high speed” wide angle M mount lenses are a fairly recent phenomenon. The Ultron mentioned is still a pretty modern looking lens and suffers from some strong focus shift. If you can give up wide apertures, the 28’s from the 60’s will certainly look vintage. A Summaron perhaps?
