I had a brass soft shutter button which came with an M camera I bought a while back, and wanted to use it on the Q3. I noticed from time to time it had become loose and I'd tighten it up, it didn't take long for it to become lost all together.

I like using a soft shutter button on the Q3, it's one of the features that had me excited for it - so I looked up a cheap replacement, and one of the low score reviews was that 'it falls off'

I'm curious now, do they all do this? I want a new one, but now I'm reluctant.

The ones that I have feature a rubber "O" ring on the threaded part that holds the soft shutter button in place pretty well.

I'll have a look to see if i can find one with such feature, thanks

I have this one from Match Technical and it stays firmly attached to the Q3 release button.

now that you mention it, i think the one i had was match tecnical - black on brass! or maybe it's not brass at all..

Yes these are good and don’t come off, you need something to push the threads against each other and the tolerances are large

I have a Sony RX1 that a decade ago I had a similar issue, so used a drop of the lightest grip red loctite to help secure.  A decade later I still can’t get that button off.  I still love the camera, though.

How long have you been using it please ?

I have two . . . the silver one has a lovely intricate design, it was a limited edition and I bought it about two years ago.  Never had a problem with it coming loose but you do need to use the O ring.

I've had the black paint for six months.  There were two versions, one distressed and starting to brass and the other clean.  I bought the clean one and it is already starting to show slight signs of brass underneath, but that's fine.  Not a very good photo, but it will give you some idea . . .

75 euro ???. i bought  4 blackpaint   bruttons on Ali 6 years ago for 8 euro. i only lost one during that period

I sure I paid more than 75 euro for the black paint one, can’t remember.  I think the little silver one was 125 euro, might have been more, might have been less.

Yes I bought a red Leica one for my Q3. Stayed on for one afternoon and was never to be seen again. I asked Leica Miami about it and they said it’s normal for them to come undone. So Leica can’t do better? Really? $70 for an ill designed piece of junk.

Ended up buying the Squarehood mini soft shutter button because Leica didn’t have theirs in stock. Much smaller than the Leica version, It has a really nice feel and having used it now for a month and a half shows no sign of coming loose.
