dancook Posted October 10, 2024 Share #1 Posted October 10, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) I had a brass soft shutter button which came with an M camera I bought a while back, and wanted to use it on the Q3. I noticed from time to time it had become loose and I'd tighten it up, it didn't take long for it to become lost all together. I like using a soft shutter button on the Q3, it's one of the features that had me excited for it - so I looked up a cheap replacement, and one of the low score reviews was that 'it falls off' I'm curious now, do they all do this? I want a new one, but now I'm reluctant.

LesR Posted October 11, 2024 Share #6 Posted October 11, 2024 If it's not made by Leica the thread my be slightly undersize, so allowing it to unscrew. Just purchase an O' ring to fit the thread, there are many suppliers on the internet.

Yes these are good and don’t come off, you need something to push the threads against each other and the tolerances are large

Tseg Posted October 11, 2024 Share #9 Posted October 11, 2024 I have a Sony RX1 that a decade ago I had a similar issue, so used a drop of the lightest grip red loctite to help secure. A decade later I still can’t get that button off. I still love the camera, though.

I have two . . . the silver one has a lovely intricate design, it was a limited edition and I bought it about two years ago. Never had a problem with it coming loose but you do need to use the O ring. I've had the black paint for six months. There were two versions, one distressed and starting to brass and the other clean. I bought the clean one and it is already starting to show slight signs of brass underneath, but that's fine. Not a very good photo, but it will give you some idea . . . Welcome, dear visitor! Cogito Posted October 11, 2024 Share #13 Posted October 11, 2024 Saw this $9 one the other day while waiting for Leica to have in stock, but didn’t think they matched the Q aesthetic. Would have to make sure one didn’t over-tighten it. https://www.amazon.com/Shutter-Buttons-shutter-Release-Button/dp/B0CTCK75YZ

I think the little silver one was 125 euro, might have been more, might have been less.
Tjazz Posted November 20, 2024 Share #16 Posted November 20, 2024 Yes I bought a red Leica one for my Q3. Stayed on for one afternoon and was never to be seen again. I asked Leica Miami about it and they said it’s normal for them to come undone. So Leica can’t do better? Really? $70 for an ill designed piece of junk. Tseg Posted November 21, 2024 Share #17 Posted November 21, 2024 They are all like that. I use the tiniest drop of red (mild) Loctite and that typically will keep them locked in for years.

Cogito Posted November 22, 2024 Share #20 Posted November 22, 2024 Ended up buying the Squarehood mini soft shutter button because Leica didn’t have theirs in stock. Much smaller than the Leica version, It has a really nice feel and having used it now for a month and a half shows no sign of coming loose. Welcome, dear visitor!
