Leica Store Amsterdam seems to have some in stock. When I try to add another one in the shopping cart, I get a message that the requested number of items isn't available. Can hardly believe they have 25 in stock, but there you go. Previous experiences make me think they have their logistics in good order.

I spent a few days in the beautiful Italian city of Firenze / Florence and the manager of the Leica shop there told me they had both Q3 models in stock.

Funny thing, I actually bought my second Leica Q2 in Florence from that same shop.

My original Q2 got stolen on the train from Nice to Florence the day before, and I was not looking forward to spending the rest of my vacation without a proper camera. Luckily they had just gotten in a Q2 that day, and I bought it on the spot. This was just a couple of months after launch and they were still rare.

I still lacked a proper camera bag and most other accessories for the rest of the trip, but at least I had a camera to use on my first visit to Florence/Venice/Rome.

I got in touch with Leica Amsterdam, and after some emails back and forth, my Q3 43 is now on its way and I should get it before the end of week. Thanks so much for the tip.

I am finally getting mine today. It seems the Leca Q3 43s were sent directly from Leica (according to the website I ordered from in Norway), and that there was something that went wrong  in customs.

It's extremely strange and not super professional, but things can happen.

It does seem that most of the Leica Q3 43s in Norway in the first batch were pre-ordered allthough my supplier said they had 3 left - none of the 3 larger sites in Norway that sell Q3 43 have them in stock on their site.

I discovered the Q3 43 a few days after launch after having been out of the gear collecting hobby for some time.   I immediately placed a (back) order with a US vendor and it was communicated I likely would receive in December or January.   As my review research escalated, I started searching for a Q3 43 in Europe as my enthusiasm grew, partly based on some posts here.   I didn't want to wire money, rather I wanted to use a credit card to give me some protections, so this limited some purchase options.

Without a lot of luck being able to consummate a deal in Europe, I resigned myself to the fact I likely would be well into the holiday season before getting my hands on a 43.  Several days ago I was contacted by a Leica factory store in Europe who advised while they were not permitted to sell me a new 43 directly, they just had a demo unit returned and they could sell to me for 5% under list.   It took some back and forth over several days to work through "fraud protections" my credit card had, but finally this morning the deal was consummated and I've been issued a tracking number.   My understanding from my research is there will not be duty fees imposed on a purchase of a used point and shoot from the country where I am buying, but even if several hundred dollars, no matter, as my payment is ~$1K less than what I would have spent buying in the US because of the discount and exchange rate.

My contact at Leica assured me the camera is like new with very few shots and no obvious physical marks on the camera and that it will have a 3 year warranty once registered.  I have to assume anyone provided a demo this early into the 43 launch is likely very experienced and likely careful with a borrowed camera.  I really have no concerns about using a very lightly used demo Q3 43, especially considering it will significantly reduce my cost and arrival time.  Oh, and there was no issue cancelling the back-ordered US camera order.  Now I wait for arrival (even though I am traveling out of town Wednesday through Saturday of next week).

It is in stock in all major french photo outlets : FNAC, IPLN, Miss numérique and all Leica stores and shops.

Seems not to be a success.

Q3 28 is also widely available. May shopping time for any Q has passed ?

Or a logistics forecasting error on behalf of Leica.   None to be had in the US heading into prime holiday shopping season?

Or perhaps, given the unexpected popularity of the Q3 28mm at launch, this time Leica produced more cameras for the initial launch to be able to cope with demand. More cameras in stock = more sales = more money

A few days ago I saw the X100VI in stock in several stores. Having a product in stock doesn’t mean it’s not a success. That camera is still wildly popular.

It seems the Q3 43 hasn't been in stock yet in Norway. In Sweden people tell me it was in stock in the start of last week. But I pre ordered in Norway weeks ago, so I know they haven't arrived in a small quantum and then been emptied out.

What's the status elsewhere?

In stock at Lecuit in Luxembourg.

Depends where you look from.

Mine is approved and B&h took the $$$ from my AMEX. They just say back ordered. Should I look else where or let it ride. I really want it for Thanksgiving and Fall colors.

Mine came too lat for the fall colors, but i'm in Norway. Still some colors on the trees, but way better 2 weeks ago.

Can't you order from Europe and get it this week through a fast shipping option?

Mine was also backordered from B&H.   Finding one in Europe is speeding up delivery and is saving me $$...   Although mine has been hung up in customs all weekend in Chicago...  I go out of town on Wednesday morning until next weekend, so I think I may need to push back my DHL delivery, as it is now listed as a Wednesday delivery.

B&H should not draft your credit card for back-ordered items until it ships.  The exception being if ordered through a service like Apple Pay or PayPal where the card is linked to, then the card gets drafted immediately.  When I went to cancel my B&H order online, the cancellation was confirmed within hours.
