A profile that has not been modified will contain the default settings when selected. As @Le Chef suggests, are you sure you have saved your settings in the profile correctly?

I'm sure you've read the manual but, if not, you need to scroll to the very bottom of the Profiles menu to get to the "Manage Profiles" option which then lets you save your settings.. (you can also just press the up arrow on the d-pad controller to get there faster)

I think if this is really a bug it would be likely to have been reported by many owners.

Sadly there is a long paper trail in the forum of those who have not understood how to use user profiles (Q, SL, M), either because they have not read the manual or because the manual explanations are not always clear themselves. So I would be hesitant to attribute this to a bug until the exact sequence of actions is set out.

Have owned Leica Q 2 and Q3 28 before the Q 3 43 plus M cameras. I  have never had a problem installing and using profiles  before so I do have some idea about installing and using the profile feature I might add that the beta testers did not use the latest firmware in the Leica Q 3 43.

Many thanks for all the positive response in the mean time. I will reach out to Leica for a possible workaround.

Please let us know the outcome! Having labelled this a bug, it would be useful to know if that is the case.

  • 3 months later...

Recently purchased the Q3 43mm and arrived with installed version 3.0.0 firmware, added one profile and saved it. Just a few preferences in storage profile.

Memory card is my standard use SanDisk Extreme PRO Type II 256GB with write speed 300MB/second card which was initally formatted in the camera before it's use.

Shot 43 images and upon reviewing the images the camera froze with no indicator light shown, so it wasn't writing or saving anything.

Removed battery, turn the camera back on and no issues, error must have cleared. Hope this episode will be my last experience but cannot replicate the situation again so perhaps it's a fluke an won't ever happen again? I'm thinking, not so. Anyway, if anyone has a suggestion I would appreciate it as it's no longer a dependable camera until I can resolve the issue.

I've read there were some issues that occurred when the camera was initially released some months ago but no record clearly outlined the sequence of events prior to camera locking up. I am suspect of the cards read speed perhaps being faster than the camera's software can manage but that's not likely an issue. If the problem re-occurs then  I intend to change out the card with a slower write/read card, SanDisk Type 1 200mb/second and eliminate that being the issue.

Any news on the issue?

Thanks.

I don't recall any similar issues reported after launch. One freeze is not an issue - it's only if it happens often or is repeatable. I'm sure I've had freezes on many digital cameras - usually by trying to press too many buttons at the same time. Tell us if it happens again.

Edit. I've never heard of a SD card being too fast for the camera (often the other way round). I'm sure someone will post here if they can be.

Today I was shooting at a fast pace in 7 fps mode and got 2 unreadable files. New Sandisk 256Gb 300Mb/s card. Firmware 3.0.0

Surprisingly, the next day both unreadable frames were read by the camera. At the same time, yesterday I turned the camera on and off several times, but the frames were not read.
