The Fog on this day stayed for a long time. Long enough to follow the fog out into rural areas. M Monochrom 35 Summicron Asph. 2017

June 1st 2023 - I had a bad car accident on this morning. The car was totalled but I managed to make it to Kings Meadow (by the river) to shoot a foggy morning, none the less. SL2 with Apo Vario Elmarit 90-280

I love how the flares are aligned right over the shadow separating those two pools of light.

Great idea for a thread!

Yes, they are like planets all lining up Ruskkyle 😃 I was shooting the other way and when I turned around teh light ws just amazing but quite glaring and strong as the sun gets rising in the sky. At first I thought "nah the light is too bright and I will get all sorts of aberrations and generally too hard to get anything to work in photoshop. My friend probably thought the same when I alerted him to the light behind us. I decided to get a few frames because I wasn't sure and usually I will just take the frames and work it out later, like a roll of the dice. Maybe in the film days when conserving costs versus shooting willy nilly with free digital pixels it doesn't matter. I have found these uncertain moments looking through the viewfinder are some of the best times to shoot. Invariably something wonderful is achieved and this was one of those times because I was taken back viewing the image on the LCD.

There is a person in that fog walking his dog. Our idea was to use fog and to get the river and birdlife (mainly Pelicans) all into one shot. We are still working on it a year later. SL2S with VE 90-280

We all love using environmental effects in our landscape or Street images. Effects such as fog and rain, clouds and even auroras are all a bit special. I thought to create this thread about images taken in or with fog showing.  Seeing great foggy images from around the world would be great and to add any back story to the experience of shooting in the Fog.

This image by M Monochrom CCD and the 21 Super Elmar M lens in 2015. I was visiting a friends fruit orchard when setting up for pre dawn image in the bitterly cold there was a mixture of smoke and fog drenching the valley. It took some time to roll away and as much as I liked it, the farmer thought it was detrimental to the image. I managed a few angles and set ups on this morning.

Incredible image, Ken.  And such a great idea for a thread.  I love the symmetry in this photo, and the subtle gradations of tones.  Really superb.

A runner and her dogs jogged behind me, moving to my left, as I photographed this log in a pond.  The dogs stirred up some Canadian geese, who took flight and circled around to re-enter the other side of the pond to my right. I could see the skein appearing through the right side of the viewfinder of my M10 Monochrom, so I shifted my position to include them, with the log, while stopping down to get more depth of field and allowing the ISO to float higher.  This all happened in an instant, and the composition looked good through the viewfinder, but what I didn't notice at the time was the jogger, on the other side of the pond, between some of the geese.  That brought the entire picture into balance.
