marcg Posted September 24, 2024 Share #1 Β Posted September 24, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm just wondering if anyone else has had an issue with a stuck shutter button? One day my camera was working fine. The next day I depress the shutter button and it wouldn't come up again and so I couldn't take any more photos. In the end I used a cable release to pull the shutter out and now it seems to be working fine β for the moment. I suppose a bit of dust must have found its way in and jammed it but I am worried that it might happen again sometime. Anyone else had this experience with an M10/M10M β or anything else?Β

marcg Posted September 24, 2024 Author Share #3 Β Posted September 24, 2024 (edited) @KFo thank you very much indeed for this. Very interesting and of course very useful. And I haven't even spilled any coffee on my camera β yet! Interesting to see that apparently it is so easily dismantled.Β Β I might try that. marcg Posted September 24, 2024 Author Share #4 Β Posted September 24, 2024 Well I dismantled it. It was very quick and I was really quite surprised that we had to do with start turning the collar to unscrew it and the whole thing would come apart. The screw thread is quite deep so it took a lot of unscrewing but it was very easy. When I withdrew the shutter release, there were three very thin washers which frankly because there were three of them, seem to me probably to be spacers rather than washers β but whatever, they are very important I am sure. Not possible to actually access the whole length of the shutter release but certainly possible to clean up with a bit of alcohol if you want. I did this although I was a bit worried about the possibility of removing any silicon or other grease which had been put there as part of the assembly process. When I dismantled it, I notice a tiny speck of some dust and that might have been the reason for the stuck button β or maybe it simply appeared from the atmosphere or from some external dust. I don't know. Anyway, I put the spacers back. Screwed it all home β finger tight β but tight. It all works exactly as it should β and maybe even slightly more positive than it was before β although that is maybe simply me being hopeful or simply my imagination! Here are some pictures in case anybody else has to do it. Β Welcome, dear visitor!
