M11 for me Posted September 20, 2024 Share #3 Posted September 20, 2024 You might want to reduce the denoise effect a little bit and it would be fine.I believe that there is no need for Topaz Software anymore. Lightroom does the job very effectively. Its a pity for the small software developers.
LocalHero1953 Posted September 20, 2024 Share #4 Posted September 20, 2024 I have stopped using Topaz except where I want better sharpening than Lightroom can give. I'm sure Topaz made plenty of money while they had a lead, but it's inevitable that users would rather stay in one software environment.
newtoleica Posted September 20, 2024 Share #5 Posted September 20, 2024 A tad aggressive in the example maybe? I don’t mind a bit of noise, however point well made and that is the reason I saved money and got a mint unused Q2 rather than a Q3 last year. LocalHero1953 Posted September 20, 2024 Share #6 Posted September 20, 2024 I find the Q2 noise pattern a bit ugly, so I'd rather hide it, at the expense of a bit of plastic texture. I'm told the Q3 noise is more agreeable.
SrMi Posted September 20, 2024 Author Share #7 Posted September 20, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have tried reducing the NR but was always left with ugly looking white dots. We know that Q2 has some issues with heavy lifting of deep shadows (4 stops in my case). ISO 8000 lifted 4 stops corresponds to ISO128000. I was happy to get anything as usable as you see. It does not work that well on humans, but it kind of works on puppets and decor 😁.

The Adobe AI Denoised version is a vast improvement over the original, though. Edited September 22, 2024 by Herr Barnack

Fred Miranda Posted September 22, 2024 Share #10 Posted September 22, 2024 I find that DXO Pure RAW does better with more natural results with extreme examples like this.

I find that DxO has some issues with lots of noise. Here is one from AI Denoise at 83 and DxO PureRaw 4 (default). Same input (saved metadata on DNG before invoking DxO). Welcome, dear visitor!
