Because no battery charger was included in the box, I first connected my M11-D to my Mac Studio front USB-C port and it was charging extremely slowly. When I later plug the cable into a large wattage charging brick, it charged very quickly so I can confirm what @Smudgerer said above.

Erik

Yep, not enough juice out of a mac studio, sadly!

M11 is constantly in a state of metering off the sensor be it when using the rangefinder or live view. Previous digital Ms did not meter off the sensor unless using live view.

Language conflict - “off sensor”, meaning metering read otherwise than from the sensor (ie from the shutter blades).  A more precise statement would be metering is read from the live sensor with all M11 series cameras.

There are many things in English that can have the opposite meaning if one considers them for too long. "Off sensor metering" and "off sensor meter" are interchangeable. "Shutter blade metering" and "shutter blade meter" are their counterparts.

No charger because of regulations.

Is this maybe a misunderstanding? Its not about the standardized charger (wall charger). This is an accepted regulation. Its only about the "cup" to put the battery in with its USB-c socket. Even the cable can be left out.

Then its upsetting that when you just want to buy that "cup" (and nothing else) that you get a whole set of electronics that I do not need.

And yet @elmars has tested the camera and knows perfectly well that only live metering is available.

That's different than this report:

it requires a high wattage, ( 40 watts and above ), Fast USB charger to work otherwise the camera will just ignore lesser chargers.

Which is it?  It "requires" a 40-watt charger or "for fastest charging use a charger of at least 40 watts"?

I don't have a D.  Is it that different from the non-D version with respect to charging?  My M11 charges fast enough using a 20 watt charger.

To be honest I am not sure, the 40W might refer to the total output when the USB charger has three or more ports, the one I bought at the weekend didn't give a wattage number, it just says Rapid Charger, and it has one USB port labelled as "3.1", ( whatever the hell that means ), that's the port I plugged into and that worked.

It's in the quick start manual. It'll start charging if switched off at 4.5W if switched on 8.5W.

It's pretty hard to work out how much the mac studio will actually deliver when it's got a bunch of peripherals plugged in. Mine looks like it would charge in about a year so I use one of those mac folding sockets which will charge at 20W. Seems plenty and a whole £15.

Just to confirm two things from people who have used the camera:

- it’s possible to set up the white balance to anything other than auto in the app? (but not possible to set any function button in the camera to change white balance). Is this accurate?

- I don’t own a laptop, just an iPad and iPhone. Is it possible to transfer photos into the iPad via the usb-c port?

Yes and yes.

@elmars but not custom white balance/off grey card i assume? There is discrepancy between the two pdf documents on Leica website. One (instructions ) mentions only auto and predetermined balances could be set. The other document (technical data) mentions you can do custom and grey card as well. Guess they did not proof read these documents before publishing and I'm not sure what's available.

Please could you confirm.

Connecting to my M11-D over Android Fotos I see White Balance options Auto, Daylight, Cloudy (I guess that is colder than daylight), Shadow, Tungsten, HMI (??), Flourescent Cool and Warm, and Flash as options.  Auto and Daylight (Jono's choice) would seem to be the least complicated to work with.  I would guess that Mac Fotos offers the same choices.

HMI = hydrargyrum medium-arc iodide lighting??

As @elmars cannot answer I'll give it a try:
