A common 49mm filter will fit inside a 12504 lenshood. Just drop it in upside down, ie with the screw thread facing outward.

This is my plan for a future v2 lux. Then I would use my SR round hood from the reissue and use a 43mm>46mm adapter and mount it on the v2. Just like how I have it mounted on my current VM.

I believe I'm correct in saying that your 35 Nokton is the v1 (in Siver-Chrome to boot. V-Nice!)? Can you confirm that you don't suffer from edge cut-off from having the hood mounted so far forward with your system?

Hi Philip, 

Correct, this is the V1 MAP edition Nokton Classic 35mm 1.4.
 

With the updated Leica 12486 hood, step-up ring + b+w filter (Xs-pro/masters), I can confirm that there is absolutely no vignetting when tested on a full frame (M9).
 

However with this fake silver 43mm Leica filter from AliExpress (very thick), there is only a tiny bit of vignetting (but way less than the original/initial 12486 hood on the SR). A 2% border crop in post would get rid of the vignetting when shot at f8 with this set up.
 

I also tested an aftermarket 43mm round ventilated hood and had no issues with vignetting. However, it didn’t look aesthetically pleasing vs the Leica 12486 hood, step up ring + the fake Leica 43mm silver filter.  Photo comparison of hoods below..

Not sure I understand... Why not just use an original CV hood? The MAP Camera version comes with a unique 'coarse' finish hood, which is impossible to replace should it be damaged. However, the hood for the standard version is fully compatible. FWIW, I have left the original one in the box and use the standard one. No vignetting with either hood and a B+W Master 43mm UV filter.

Also, I'm not familiar with the SR reissue. How would its hood (or the fake ring) attach to a Summilux 35/1.4 v2?

My copy was second hand and never came with the limited edition textured hood. Plus, I already have the 12486 hood from my steel rim reissue and didn’t want to purchase the standard LH-6 hood for my MAP edition.

So to attach the 12486 (SR reissue round) hood onto a summilux v2 pre asph, I would have to do the ring mod for it to accept 43mm filters (exactly like what OP did) and then use the step up ring like how I attached the 12486 hood onto my MAP edition and transfer the whole thing onto the v2 pre asph.

I also use this 12486 hood on my 35mm summilux asph pre-fle as well. So this hood is currently interchangeable between 3 of my lenses.

Just FWIW; if I were you, 69xchange, I would seriously reconsider acquiring an LH-6. It is one of the finest hoods - in every respect - that I have ever come across and, aesthetically, will look just a little bit 'More Classic / Classy' (IMO) that the set-up you are using at present as well as considerably shortening overall depth.

Originally I used a generic 43mm vented reverse-conical hood screwed onto a 43mm filter with the 40 Nokton but - although it is just a lenshood - buying the LH-6 was one of the best accessory-purchase decisions I have ever taken.

That’ll be great. Also you gave me an idea of trying to replicate the limited LH-6 hood. I wonder if I can respray the standard LH-6 hood using some grey/black wrinkle engine paint to mimic the texture of the MAP edition.

Not much to add but just by way of a comparison here is a hastily rattled-off comp. which shows a 43 generic screw-in (+ filter) and the LH-6. As the LH-6 hood bayonet-fits on to the lens rather than the front-edge of a filter it sits considerably lower than the other type;

It is!

My own opinion is that it's such a pity when special edition sets are split-up such as with 69xchange's MAP Crackle-Finish LH-6 style from the lens. Similar story when the 35mm 'Steelilux' is separated from the M Edition 60.

Picked up a LH-6 hood and tried to spray it with a hammered finish. A bit disappointed because the paint wasn’t as textured as I hope and it’s too glossy. It was advertised as matte too. Anyways here’s the finish product.
