You need to build up a relationship with a dealer, like I have with Ffordes up in Beauly Scotland, from whom I have been buying for well over 20 years. I was on their waiting list for the Q3 months before it was announced and got one on the day of release.

Ofcourse. Which is logical. I aint rich, but buy most from one dealer, and have a good relationship with them. I am on top of this list as well with them.

Just got off the phone with B&H... where my longitudinal purchase history is. They have no info on a Q3/43 or any facsimile there of, and no wait list. I purchase all my gear at B&H, so I'll wait until something appears on their web page before I get too excited. (BUT, if a 43mm Q3 appears, I'll place an order.)

Doesn't work like that at BH. BH is the biggest camera store in the world, way too big to be doing pre-orders on rumored cameras. They only do pre-orders once a camera is officially announced and published on their website.  You need to target mom and pop shops, leica stores, boutiques etc. if you want to get on an early list. I save tax via BH, so I will also be trying them.

With that said, Is there any historic data on what time of the day Leica usually officially announces their new cameras? Do we know what time in the states M11-D, M11-P, SL3, etc were officially announced? I would love to be prepared

Here in Australia, it's usually around 11pm Aust Eastern Std Time on Thurs night. I think that works out to 9am in the East Coast USA.

Old world I know, it is going straight to hell. In my old world, to do so, this person is fired, and AD is loosing its license. In nowadays, real world, only money matters. I miss the old time...

Maybe it's not the Q2 sensor.  They're reporting an ISO range of 50-102,400.  The Q2 sensor topped out at 50,000.  I don't know if the processor can increase the dynamic range of the sensor or not.

The Q2M had an ISO range of 50-100,000 and the Q3 is also 50-100,000.  So maybe they're using a modified version of the new sensor if it's really 47MP... or maybe it's a monochrom.

I'm kidding, by the way.  I really don't think they would release this camera as a monochrom (even though the APO lenses produce some of the best monochrome images I've seen ).

They were all done on a 80mm on 6x7, which is basically equivalent to a 35mm lens cropped to 4x5, or a 40mm lens in terms of width, but with more height. I won't clog up the thread with too many though. I would suggest to those thinking that landscape or any other kind of photography is not possible without wide angle lenses educate themselves a bit on the history of photography. Ubiquitous wide angle lenses are a somewhat recent phenomena in photography and with some notable exceptions, most of the best photography to this day is made with lenses somewhat close to standard. This assuming we go by museums and fine art galleries. Think more David Zwirner, Howard Greenburg or Yossi Milo than the shop on main street that sells giant landscape photos of Yosemite or instagram influencers. Obviously tastes vary, and the great thing is that the 28mm lens is not going anywhere, so enjoy!

Given they state that :

“The Q3 is a full-frame digital rangefinder camera with a fixed lens” (my italics)

I’m not sure they’re necessarily detail oriented…
