Danpbphoto Posted August 22, 2024 Share #1 Posted August 22, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just purchased a SL3 and 24-90f2.8 lens. I need a camera bag, shoulder or backpack style to carry the SL3 with lens attached and storage for extra battery and small items. Any recomendations please? I am a new forum member so take it easy on me!😃 Thanks! Dan
Advertisement Posted August 22, 2024 Posted August 22, 2024 Hi Danpbphoto, Take a look here New SL3 w/ 24-90f2.8 Lens..Need Bag. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
stephenmick Posted August 22, 2024 Share #2 Posted August 22, 2024 I’m a big fan of the Wotancraft Pilot 7L shoulder bag. They make great stuff.
Jeff S Posted August 22, 2024 Share #3 Posted August 22, 2024 First post a bag thread; you’ll fit right in here, as there are dozens of related discussions! Either use search box or just Google “Leica Forum (followed by topic).” Billingham is a common recommendation; the Hadley line comes in various sizes. I use the Hadley Pro for SL2 plus 24-90. Plenty of room for extra stuff, including an extra SL lens or M body/lens. But for me it’s just used for transport/travel; no bag needed when out shooting. You didn’t ask, but Peak Design straps (Leash or Slide Light) are convenient with this setup, especially when anchored to one lug and to small provided baseplate, so lens hangs down against hip or back rather than protruding outward. Easy to adjust length (e.g., for cross-body carry or to accommodate different clothing), or to remove strap, and makes carrying without a bag more pleasurable. LeicaR10 Posted August 22, 2024 Share #5 Posted August 22, 2024 (edited) Danpbphoto, First, welcome to the forum. You will find the forum to be a great place to find excellent advice and ideas from photographers who will offer their sage advice to include myself. Second, congratulations on your new SL camera and lens. Like many things in photography, camera bags are a personal preference, plus it depends on how you want to use the bag and of course, cost. Many photographers will have several types bags for different scenarios. Personally, I use Billingham HP 20/20 bags for my SL and M camera and lenses. For travel on aircraft, etc, I use Pelican cases. In your case, (no pun intended) there a good number of choices such as bags made by Billingham, Lowpro, Wotencraft, and list goes on. If you have a good camera shop, it might be best to take your camera and go check out the different bags there. A link to Billingham is below. Happy shooting. r/ Mark Try: https://billingham.com Edited August 22, 2024 by LeicaR10
Chuck Albertson Posted August 22, 2024 Share #6 Posted August 22, 2024 Billingham makes a bag for exactly that combo; also works fine with a SL camera and a prime lens. Only available at a Leica Store, however: https://billingham.com/products/sl2-camera-bag_colour-black-fibrenyte-black-leather Otherwise, the Hadley Pro works fine. I carry a SL2-S and a prime lens, plus another prime, in mine.
Guest Posted August 23, 2024 Share #7 Posted August 23, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) The Billingham Hadley Pro 2020 and the Wotancraft Pilot 7L will accommodate your SL3 with 24-90. I recommend buying the optional shoulder pad for the Billingham.
SrMi Posted August 23, 2024 Share #8 Posted August 23, 2024 If you are looking for a bag only for an SL3 with 24-90 mounted and reversed hood, the Oberwerth SL small works excellent.
LocalHero1953 Posted August 23, 2024 Share #9 Posted August 23, 2024 (edited) I use a Fogg b major for just that combination, and I’m very happy with it. And welcome to the forum! Edited August 23, 2024 by LocalHero1953

Hope to call in there soon when some of the new Voigtlander 50mms arrive so will ask then. I have a couple of b-sharps and a Flute. I have a 20+ year old Fogg b-Laika, and worked with bee, just before her passing, to custom order a second one with a top strap (customs/shipping costs from the US, etc, precluded their adding a handle to my existing bag). The more recent b-Laika bags are somewhat bigger than my old version, and perfectly accommodate an SL2 with the 24-90 attached. Jeff

Jeff Yes - I asked for top handles on both b major and minor - I think the soprano came with one anyway - and no closures on the b major side pockets (not really needed), just the flaps. She was always up for customisation.
