250swb Posted August 22, 2024 Share #2 Posted August 22, 2024 (edited) Yes very easy. The old string type seal can be replaced with modern foam seals and you could either buy a ready cut kit for replacing the seals on your SL or buy the foam in sheets and cut it yourself. Many years ago I did buy an assorted kit of light seal materials and it did come with some string but I haven't seen that advertised on eBay for a long time now. Sheets of foam can be bought from here https://polarbearcamera.com/collections/light-seal Have you actually had a light leak, or just noticed a bit of the seal is missing? I ask because a lot of older cameras like Nikon F and F2 do have seals in certain places, but they are mainly dust seals and the light is blocked by the overlapping baffles in the door and body, if that is the case with the SL then just sticking a sliver of foam or waxed string into the gap may be all you need? a.noctilux Posted August 23, 2024 Share #3 Posted August 23, 2024 Really nothing to worry about. I'd just put a small piece of "something" to fill the hole, or if the light leak is not obvious when in real use, just leave the "hole" and forget about it.
lm_user Posted August 29, 2024 Author Share #4 Posted August 29, 2024 Thanks for the replies. This is a new to me camera - but no noticeable light leaks with first test rolls. Going to go with it as is for now…
