SL3 and Panasonic Lumix S PRO 24-70mm f/2.8 - Back-button Focus?

I've been eyeing this lens for my SL3, but before I buy it, I want to learn about people's back-button focus with this (or other Panasonic/Sigma) lens on the SL3.  I have read that BBF doesn't work on Panasonic Pro lenses, but then I saw conflicting information.  Does anyone have this combo, and have you gotten BBF to work with it?

BBF on SL3 does not work with Lumix lenses with the MF clutch. Panasonic 24-70mm f/2.8 has an MF clutch; therefore, BBF does not work with Panasonic 24-70mm f/2.8.

Sigma's 24-70/2.8 works with BBF.

BBF works great with my Panasonic 20-60 and Sigma 24-70 II when I set the switch on the lens to MF mode
