brickftl Posted August 18 Share #1 Posted August 18 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) first image is ISO 10000 (dark room illuminated only by TV). Second is ISO 16000. No NR applied. The "noise" is tight, uniform, no banding - to me it's desirable, looks like b/w film grain. I was on the fence getting a monochrome. Then I took a chance with a like new excellent priced M11M, thinking I could sell it if I didn't like it. I'm now all in. My poor M10 is going to get lonely on the shelf And yes I did a bit of post process on the first image - contrast, a little dodge/burn with Adobe Camera Raw masking tool. Second image - only thing I did was lift shadows in the foreground, didn't touch the sky. Welcome, dear visitor! Advertisement Posted August 18 Posted August 18 Hi brickftl, Take a look here high ISO M11 Monochrom. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted August 18 Share #2 Posted August 18 Did you use Clarity? There is a bit of a halo along the horizon. Tip: always set a black point in Levels and, if needed, a white point. Lifting the midtones in curves often works well too. Monochrom files demand different processing from colour images. These are still a bit grey-in-grey. These are still a bit grey-in-grey. I can't find the original side car file but I did find the original RAW image. Here it is straight out of the camera, no adjustments other than standard ACR adjustments to detail. No adjustments to Light or Effect, i.e., no Clarity adjustment. Welcome, dear visitor! brickftl Posted August 19 Author Share #4 Posted August 19 Here's another CRAZY image, straight out of the camera last night. And the ISO is . . . drumroll . . . 40000. WHAAAAT??? This is proof that Leica has infused magic into the M11M 😵💫 Welcome, dear visitor! jaapv Posted August 19 Share #5 Posted August 19 There is much more magic there... I hope you don't mind me using your image, if requested I'll remove this post, but the camera has so much more than straight OOC - this is a 3 minute edit, nothing but basic ACR and levels and curves: (working on a JPG, raw would be better) BTW, Dust spot in the sky. 😉 BTW, please observe the maximum image size 2480 pixels. I've been seeing 2 dust spots. I need to clean my M11M sensor. Any suggestions how to do so would be appreciated. BTW, I'm unclear about your request that I observe max image size. I didn't upload any image. Rather I simply linked to the image posted on my Smugmug website.

jps1 Posted August 22 Share #8 Posted August 22 The monochrome M11 is fabulous in iso heights. Here is an example at 125000. Welcome, dear visitor! DadDadDaddyo Posted September 21 Share #11 Posted September 21 No question about it. If I was forced to choose just one Leica to keep forever and shun all others, it would be the M11M. It's not even a close contest...
