Just got my D8 today but I am probably going to need a couple of spare batteries.

Any third party recommendations, along with a charger would be very helpful.

I use a Jupio battery and a Watson compact charger, both recommended by B&H Photo when I bought my D-Lux 7. I also assume there's a Panasonic battery available.

There is an excellent Nitecore charger for these batteries. It is discontinued by Nitecore, but still available today from Leica Store San Francisco / Camera West.

Both the Leica BP-DC15 and Panasonic DMW-BLG10E have the same specs (7,2V 1025mAh 7,4Wh) and guess what,  the same manufacturer: Panasonic Battery Corp..

Leica BP-DC15: € 95,00

Panasonic DMW-BLG10E: € 69,95

I bought the Panasonic DMW-BLG10E as a spare Battery (got a new one for 47,00 €).
Works flawlessly with the D-Lux 8 (as expected 🙈).
