Time ago, in the Forum was reported the existence of adapters very similar to 16590/16590N but with a slightly different diameter of the mouth : see under... but it was unmarked so various hipotesis did arise.

But your case looks different, even if I am not sure to have understood well : do you mean that the black 16590N in your picture has NOT the standard diameter to accept Leitz M39 lenses ? This would look very strange to me : 16590N formerly UOOYW (then simply 16590... the loss of the letter occurred in due time for all the original "new" codes) , was made to fit 35 and 50mm screw mount lenses on Bellows (I or II) and afaik was never modified.  The other ring in your picture is clearly  a Leitz NY accessory (they made several of their own) : is it IT that does not fit on Bellows ? And how is its inner diameter ? does it accept std. screw  mount Leitz lenses ?  Apparently, its mouth looks smaller than 16590... it could accept the Elmar 90 lenshead... does it ? ; if it does not fit on Leitz Bellows, it could mean that Leitz NY made it for some local / US made accessory... a reflex housing, a bellows...

There is an entry on p. 426 in Laney‘s „Leica Collector‘s Guide“ which lists items for the Visoflex I from the Winter 1952 N.Y. list. It says:

UGOOYW/16590 - Interchangable collar which takes tubes UOOVH (to make UOOST) or UOOWV to make UOOTG. With adapter 042-716.041 this could also accomodate 12.5mm, 25mm and 50mm Photar lenses“. The UOOTG is explained as „Divisible interchangable extension collar for Elmar 90mm“. The UOOWV as „Extension tube of outfit UOOTG for Elmar 90mm.

Though luigi‘s questions about which device does not fit the bellows is right. Can you srew the „N.Y“ itm into the 16590N?

I am not at home so I have none of my resources available.  I believe the chrome adapter is for the COMBI focusing device.  It is not associated with the bellows.  I recall the code being something like 7x,xxx, not the more common 9x,xxx for Leitz NY parts.  I can check this information in a couple of days if no one can do so more quickly.

It is COOEL / 70,443 for COOMI (not COMBI).  Search down in this 1950 price list.  You will also see the adapters for other lenses.

You got it, I'd say.. 🙂 ... we are in the "repro" domain. COOMI is a fine device (https://www.keh.com/shop/coomi-micrometer-ext-tube-blk-1.html ) : was it a "NY only" product ? I seem not to find it in some Europe catalog...

Leitz NY created the original Focoslide.  (I should have brought the little Laney accessory book on my trip.  So I am going by memory here.)  COOMI was the focusing mount for the Leitz NY Focoslide / Focaslide.  When Wetzlar created its own Focoslide, a new N mount series of accessories were created to go along with it.  The simple answer is then "yes", the 7x,xxx and 9x,xxx codes were purely Leitz NY.  The original motor drive for the M2 and later M4 also falls in this category.  If I have any of the wrong, please correct me.
