Hi,

I just purchased my second Sigma 35mm f2 Contemporary lens and seem to be having the same issue which is that it is a very tight fit on the SL2.

The first one I had was so tight I had to put the camera between my knees and use both hands to dismount the lens. I ordered another lens through Wex and collected it from the store a couple of days ago. We tested this in the store and although it felt a little looser it is still much much tighter than other lenses.

The lens is lightly weather sealed and does have a small gasket but I doubt this would cause what I am experiencing. It almost feels like a grinding of metal between the lens and camera body. The camera is only a month or so old so I am a little concerned about this.

We tested other lenses with the body in the shop and there is no problem. I cannot find much online about this issue so I was just wondering if anyone has experienced this before?

Thanks

Thanks all. I have been testing this for a few days now and it is still feeling very tight. I think it will be returned. I may try another one again in the near future but all other lenses tested work without any issue. It may be the contemporary line. I hope to test the 45mm soon and will update this with my findings.

And do all you Leica lenses mount properly????? In the 70's I worked in a camera store and we sold Leica and we got a M body in that would not take any M mount lenses and Leica NJ said that could not happen.  Things do happen.....

I've had a few of the contemporary lenses to try out on both my SL2-S and SL3.  I didn't notice any discernable difference from my APO Summicron-SL lenses or my Summilux-SL.  I also tried the ART series 20 and 24 and they felt the same on the mount, too.
