Schmollinski Posted July 16, 2024 Share #1  Posted July 16, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi together, I'm a bit torn at the moment. I like the Handgrip from Leica for the D-Lux 8, but I also like the slim and clean design of the camera without this grip. How is your opionion? Grip or design? I am curious about your opinion .  Wish you all a great day.
Advertisement Posted July 16, 2024 Posted July 16, 2024 Hi Schmollinski, Take a look here D-Lux 8 - Hand grip or design. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
PanHay Posted July 16, 2024 Share #2 Â Posted July 16, 2024 Hi have the Leica DL-8 hand grip and a rope wrist strap - perfect for carrying around and better control of the camera. The extra little bit of 'height' the grip gives also helps keep my finger off the screen and moving the focus point (most of the time). Size wise, it still fits easily into my jacket pocket.
Einst_Stein Posted July 16, 2024 Share #3 Â Posted July 16, 2024 Get the grip. After a while you might get used to it and forget the clean design, or, less likely, you can abandon the grip and back to the clean design.
wda Posted July 16, 2024 Share #4 Â Posted July 16, 2024 Functional grip; or aesthetic design. It depends how you intend to use the camera. I would always favour the former.
Le Chef Posted July 16, 2024 Share #5 Â Posted July 16, 2024 I wonder whether the grip from previous models fits?

So far, happy with single hand use without the grip.

Hey, Did you go for the official hand rope or a third party one? Looking for a recommendation 😊

GFONG Posted July 17, 2024 Share #12 Â Posted July 17, 2024 When I bought a new camera, I always bought a lot of so-called useful accessories. End up some of it never use. My suggestion is to use the camera for 10 or more photo shots then decide whether to get the grip or not.
Jon Schick Posted July 17, 2024 Share #13 Â Posted July 17, 2024 Having tried a demo unit in the local shop (no grip) I ordered one with the grip - it's not terribly comfortable without, especially if you have largish hands.
SrMi Posted July 17, 2024 Share #14 Â Posted July 17, 2024 The small size and weight are more important to me than the more comfortable grip.
Einst_Stein Posted July 17, 2024 Share #15 Â Posted July 17, 2024 I would wait for the third party grip. Should be available soon. Usually you get much better price, besides, it might be Arca Swiss compatible. (Though I don't know why tripod for this camera).
KenTanaka Posted July 20, 2024 Share #16 Â Posted July 20, 2024 I would prefer a grip but Leica's design is just poor. Â Why do these people insist on having owners dismantle their cameras to change media or batteries? Just like Leica's Q3 grip, their DL8 grip requires removal for card and battery access. Â For $150? Â Nope. Â I'll wait for a JJC or other 3rd party design with a bottom hole to appear. Â Or just skip it and keep the camera more pocketable. Schmollinski Posted July 20, 2024 Author Share #17  Posted July 20, 2024 Thanks all for your comments. Grip is here since today and it is way better to handle and less bulky as I thought.  Welcome, dear visitor! I got the half case, it’s nice, provides decent cover, but would you say a hand grip is better, more functional? Is it lighter than the half case or less bulky?
