Received my Dlux 8 on 4th July. This is my 1st ‘proper’ camera - been using iPhones for everything up to now. I am planning quite a bit of travel in the next few years and wanted a small, pocketable camera that would produce photos rather than ‘snaps’ (if that makes sense). Just enrolled on a few photographic courses and the London Institute of Photography to set me on my way.

I also purchased the Leica hand grip and wrist strap which makes it very comfortable to use and carry single handed - and easy to hide. Away in a jacket pocket.

Really happy with everything. At the moment & hopefully I will start taking much better photos now!

I had logged a reservation with Leica Mayfair & a deposit with London Camera Exchange, but on the 2nd July I just kept a window open on the main Leica store and as soon as the status changed I pressed ‘go’ and managed to get one and it arrived two days later. Leica Mayfair got in touch later in the week saying they would have more units at the end of July.

I just was able to order it directly from leicacamerausa with no issues. They update their stock on their website daily between 10-11 EST. I kept refreshing right at 10 and within 2 min I had mine ordered and email confirmation sent to my inbox. Don’t waste time on getting it from resellers. It will take forever. Get direct from Leica.

They are available right now on leicacamerausa (11:30 central) so I ordered one! TBD how quickly it will ship

I happened to randomly check it out too and saw the same thing. I was able to check out and get my order in. It shows on back order again now.

Thanks for the heads up. Worked for several of us today, albeit a little later than that timeframe. Getting on a waiting list at a third party shop isn’t going to work very well.

I received the D-Lux 8 on 7-18.-24 (my first D-Lux). I purchased this camera as a small backup that I could give someone if I was using the M11 or I just wanted a small camera to carry. My first out of box impressions of the camera, compared to my SL2 and M11: Looks like a current Leica.  A very different feel than the M11 or SL2. Very light and small.  I appreciate the menu system being identical in concept to current models, but not as feature rich as the M11 or SL2. I took several photos and 4K videos. Focusing is not as good as the SL2, but more than acceptable. Leica D-Lux photo color at "standard" is pretty good, but this might not be the best low-light camera. Lightroom can really improve D-Lux low-light/higher ISO photos.  I'm OK with the 4K video for as little as I will use it. I thought about he Fuji X100 VI. First the wait for this camera is a problem. The sensor difference between the 2 cameras was not an issue for me. The micro 4/3 sensor in the Leica is OK for my use with this camera. The Leica zoom lens is a plus over the Fuji. The Leica menu system was a big plus and the DNG files for the Leica are also a plus. The D-LUX EVF  and the LCD panel were pretty good as well. I will update this post later if something is of interest pops-up. For my needs, I'm happy with the D-Lux 8. I trust Leica will continue to make firmware improvements as time goes on.

I was on short vacation trip to Riga, Latvia. Local Leica dealer got couple of extra cameras on top of preorders and I was lucky to get one of those 3 hours before flight back home yesterday 😎

So off to sales goes my Sony DSC-RX100.4 which I never got properly bonded with.
