I’m still on the hunt, looking daily and on numerous waiting lists.  Anyone know of when a batch will  be delivered into North America ?

Have you put your name down at the Leica Boutiques in the US?  I placed my name at several and got calls from LA and Washington DC.

I ordered my D-Lux 8 on the 1st of September at the Leica store in Melbourne, Australia.

I was originally told that it would take 6 weeks to arrive, but that they liked to underpromise and overdeliver. The expected wait would be around 4 weeks.

At the seven week mark I went to the store and asked if they could confirm the delivery of my camera. I was told that a shipment had been dispatched by Leica, but that it had gone missing in transit and that an enquiry was underway. Leica were also sending a new delivery of cameras to replace the previous shipment. I have no way of knowing if this story of the missing cameras was the truth or not, but interestingly I was told that when ordering, I should have been quoted 8 weeks for delivery.

My camera arrived in store on the 25th of October, and I collected the following day. This was 8 weeks to the day.

I was told when I picked up the camera that the Australian stores were not taking further orders because no cameras would be delivered in time for Christmas.

Anyone in Canada had any luck finding a D-Lux 8. It seems the resellers like VISTEK haven’t received any (or very few).

I received mine from Camtec Photo in Montreal November 2nd. I pre-ordered in early September. They only received a shipment of 2. The other one was pre-ordered also.

Wow. I preordered from Vistek in May and I’m still waiting with no ETA. I’m not sure Vistec has received any. If they have very few.

I am also waiting on delivery of the D-Lux 8. It was ordered Sept. 29th...through a dealer in Ottawa...promised mid November...then promised mid December...? Unfortunately, I believe there is a lack of communication between Leica [Germany] and Panasonic [China]...as no one seems to confirm a reliable date. I called Leica NYC and they said only my Dealer can confirm date. I've asked my Dealer three times now and they have no firm information to share.

This isn't particularly great customer support...so perhaps Leica can sort this out the next time they release a product. This, given it is a brand that provides a superior quality product, reliable performance and with it of course...enticing marketing!

I am however looking forward to it's delivery such that I can travel to photograph the waiting world.

I’d be interested to know how satisfied you are with your D-Lux 8! Are you still enjoying it, is the image quality okay, or have you already sold it?
