The humid heat is too much for me. True, it's hot, humid, and sticky out there. Last year, I went to Asia with my GFX100s gear and learned my lessons. I don't have a large M-mount lens collection, but I bought the Zeiss 21mm f/2.8, 35mm f/1.4, and 50mm f/1.5 lenses. I'm considering the 28mm f/2.8 soon, as I have used that focal length quite a lot. I think I need to look for a backpack that can hold three lenses and the M11-P.
Advertisement Posted June 19, 2024 Posted June 19, 2024 Hi TeeBee, Take a look here Leica n00b needs help selecting a memory card and accessories for the Leica M 11-P. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
mekener Posted June 20, 2024 Share #22 Posted June 20, 2024 When I first got the m11 I was a bit scared of the camera shake so I also got the hand grip. I took it off after two weeks, its been collecting dust. I also got the visoflex 2 because I thought I would need it with a 90mm. lens. Both the lens and the visoflex are collecting dust as well... I tried the thumb support a few months later but it just felt too cramped for me. Currently I have a 50 summilux and a 28 elmarit, one extra battery and a cleaning cloth tucked in a Tumi sling bag. I was told to buy the Visioflex 2 with the camera and the accessories you mentioned. I did not, and I have no regrets about not buying them. However, I'm considering buying a half-case to minimise any possible damage by my sweaty hands. I'm considering adding a couple more lenses, 28mm f/2.8 ZM and the 50mm f/2. I own the Zeiss ZM 50mm f/1.5, but I need the 50mm f/2 for landscapes and architecture. That said, I won't be carrying more than two extra lenses. These lenses would give me a few options to pick what I need to take out. Unfortunately, my camera froze a couple of times yesterday when I used the Zeiss 35mm f/1.4 distagon. I was saving files to the internal memory, the memory card was not involved, and I used the manual encoding for the lens and selected Leica 35mm f/1.4. Yea. I have nothing on my camera. No grips no soft shutter buttons no visoflexes no cases. Nothing. It feels so good as is. That's brass black paint though. Not sure about aluminum.

It has 0 visible distortion. Great for architecture from a distance of course. For wider angles is trickier to find them without distortion. The 35 summicron v2 is excellent for architecture also. For 28mm I suggest the 28 Elmarit. The Zeiss is fine for a budget lens. But if architecture is the aim look for minimal almost no visible distortion. Hard with 28mm but the elmarit is great for that. And reasonably priced. Edited June 21, 2024 by crons

Yes, I think the Leica 50mm f/1.4 has a slight pincushion distortion. Is that correct? I read a few impressive reviews of the 50 f/2. I will try a demo unit or source one to try and decide between the two: the 50mm f/1.4 and the 50 f/2.

These sort of shots like these ones I took here are a perfect example of why I like the 50 cron. (These are uncropped and not too edited) This first one you can see the flare you can get. That light spot in the middle. Easily fixed if i just put a circle gradient and add contrast but I left it alone. It sort of worked with the image. You get that when the sun hits the front directly. I see it rarely and I think that photo is the last time I saw it actually. https://www.instagram.com/p/CyaZL1myKzQ/?igsh=amk5MzB3Z3g5Y2Fx https://www.instagram.com/p/CiCoxQaJI0e/?igsh=MTJ0cWJwazE0cThubg== https://www.instagram.com/p/CvRQ-mCSogx/?igsh=Ymg3NnVrdTBxOWV4 Because I'm always at these small apertures I would rather have the smaller lighter lens without distortion especially for architecture like this https://www.instagram.com/p/CxSF8hnSkfv/?igsh=aXMxc3FqNW5qZmFn Everything is just right. Same with my 30+ trips abroad, I got tired of lugging around my a7rv with an assortment of large lenses and bought an m11-P with a few lens and can't wait to go on my next trip with a much lighter load. I just bought a leather ONA Rockaway for my Leica gear and x100VI, but I also like the looks of the sling you posted. To the OP, my first purchase outside of SD cards was a half-case and thumb rest. I also ordered a Wotancraft wrist strap and neck strap which should be coming soon. I love Wotancraft gear so you may want to check out their site, they also make great bags that don't look like camera bags. https://www.wotancraft.tw/

It's a beautiful lens offering a nice retro rendering as the design is a continuation of the retro Sonnar design of the 1930s, as Zeiss claims. I bought the 50mm f/1.5, knowing its capabilities and limitations, but it did not perform well on the Sony mirrorless, but it did well on the Nikon Z 7II. 9 hours ago, AllenB said: To the OP, my first purchase outside of SD cards was a half-case and thumb rest. sebas_ Posted June 24, 2024 Share #34 Posted June 24, 2024 I have just recently made the switch to the M11-P. Was using many different brands in the past, but wanted something small, with impeccable image quality and a design and feeling which does not look out of place when going out on a stroll or to a dinner. Also I wanted to be more connected to photography again, that's something the M can do very well. So for the start I have got an Vogt Ultron 35 f2 II, which is a great lens, especially for the price - but I am thinking of selling it again, just do not quite like the feel somehow and the 0,5 minimal focus without any feedback keeps throwing me of learning the RF. I have bought the SEM 21 via MPB used, which I really like for architecture + Leica Perspective Control. The SEM 21 is very wide, but so easy to focus Added a used Visoflex and M11 handgrip to the mix. Found an old Leica C 90mm for little money at a local dealer, so I snapped it too. Is not really able to resolve the 60MP, but has quite nice vintage feel to it. Currently I am debating, which Leica lens I want to add to the kit. I am debating if I want a 50 or exchange the Vogt 35 for a Leica 35. With the 50mm I am leaning to the new Summilux 50mm for including close-focus or should I just snatch a used summicron and test if I like the 50 enough to justify the Summilux price bracket. If I win in the lottery, I would like to add the APO 35, but this is simply out of my reach for now. The Summicron 28 would also be nice, has close-focus as well. Two cost effective lenses to consider: -50mm Zeiss Planar ZM 2.0 ( Still have one on my M240 gifted to my son). -35mm Zeiss Biogon ZM 2.8 ( or 2.0) Both are outstanding M lenses for their price. (I know a lot of Leica users prefer to have them.) I spoke to the Leica store, store as well. I think I have to write to Wetzlar to get an answer. I don't mind if I can get the tabs removed for a small fee without voiding the warranty. 🙂

I have one of the 11628 (LHSA) models as found in this link https://wiki.l-camera-forum.com/leica-wiki.en/index.php/50mm_f/1.4_ASPH_Summilux-M With regards to the focus tabs on a Leica M lens, I suggest careful foresight was undertaken by the design engineers to place the tab in an optimum location when one is holding and focussing in a landscape orientation. Zeiss even copied the location placement of their focus-nib. You may want to revisit how you hold and focus. I find the tab perfectly located on my 50APO and 35FLE lenses. For my shooting needs (and likes) f/2.8 is fast enough. That may not be true for many. I very much like the small size of the lens. The focusing nub was a minor annoyance, but 7 Artisans makes a stick-on focus tab that is both cheap and easily modified to fit the C Biogon.
