I won’t email them as my trial will be well over by the time they respond.

My App is v 1.02(41) by the way. No update available here.

This is what my P screen shows

White Balance, ISO, Shutter Speed, AF manual controls don't exist in that pop up menu.

With the App in P-Mode/Photo Mode, look for the little grey bar at the bottom of the image frame in portrait mode, then touch and slide that bar down to reveal the White Balance, ISO, Shutter Speed, AF manual controls along with a dial to change the settings + or - etc.

The little grey bar can be hard to see as it's almost transparent., but once you slide it down all these manual settings will appear just under the frame same view as you use to take a photo.

Thanks. I’ve found them. Not exactly “bleeding obvious” are they? 😊

An annoyance is that if you access the shots you’ve taken with the App, there’s no way to get back to base without closing it and reopening.

👍🏼

One of those "once you see it..." I think the Leica LUX App tech team can probably do a better job, better demo to explain how to access these manual settings, IMO important features.

Test shot with Leica Lux app on my iPhone 13 Pro staring Dan. It’s great you can choose the aperture after taking the shot.

Hi Juan, isn't that ability already on the iPhone 13 native camera app in the Portrait setting?

OK, so now for a test. Here are two photos of my dog. One was taken with the Lux App and the other with the iPhone native app. They have been resized to be uploaded to the site. Plus there is a little processing on each so which is which?

Shot 1 is the Lux app.

Do you have any real life example to share? Because I reckon that in 18 years of iOS, it never happened that an app suddenly stopped working because of “Apple’s whims”.

Anyway, even in the unlikely event that the app stops working after 1 year for whatever imaginary reason, a OTP will still be cheaper than a full 1 year subscription in the vast majority of cases. The reason why less and less companies offer a one time payment is because they earn more money via subscription.

I wouldn't say whim but when I excitedly picked up my iPad Pro M4 I depressingly realized it doesn't work with Fotos app to connect to my M11 yes my 6 year old iPad does! Maybe Leica need to spend more time catering to their camera customers instead of toy apps!

That's Leica's fault though, not Apple's. The iPad Pro M4 is perfectly compatible with the Fotos app. Probably it's the M11? Have you tried resetting it? Some people reported that could not connect the app to a device, but after resetting the camera the app finally recognised it. Search the forum, plenty of people in your situation were able to fix this issue.

on the new M4 iPad? I didnt see any posts but for the older versions.

camera reset and no difference whatsoever!

I didn't intend to use the13" as a carry around with the camera, I have a 512GB iPad mini for that purpose. I blame apple on this one. nothing changed in IOS except for the new device and the camera works perfectly on all older hardware with the current IOS! It's not unusual for things to be sketchy on apple devices until after the next "update" There is a history of this from ppc times today!

but hey, if someone with anew M4 iPad has succeeded I am all ears.

I plan some street photography in Downtown Nashville in a few weeks so may be I'll stop in the Apple Store and hit up a "genius"

I’d recommend you to ask Leica’s support. The Apple support won’t give you support for third party applications, that’s up to Leica to fix any compatibility issue, if present.
I’d extremely surprised if the Leica app doesn’t work with M4 equipped devices. The operating system is the same, API’s are the same, the only thing that has changed is the iPad’s chip, basically. There’s a very high chance the problem lies with the M11 body, perhaps it’s still linked to the other device and doesn’t recognise the new one?

If they gave us the full app free with purchase of one of the new cameras, I'd be a happy camper.  Definitely not worth the subscription fee, but I am still having fun with the free version in the meantime.  It's hard to justify the cost when so many other filter apps exist.

Interestingly, I never use the JPEGs from their cameras, but I like using them on the phone.  I guess Leica Standard is too standard on the camera, but it is 'different' on the phone.

lol... I noticed I wrote this in German. Basically: I noticed the LUX App shooting 12MP files when shooting in Aperture Mode, while my iPhone 15 Pro Max shoots 24MP when set to portrait mode 1x. There is a big difference in image quality to me.

Dont know if it happens to everyone but the iPhone gets quickly very warm using the app. I have iPhone 13 pro max.

I have used the free app, what I enjoy is that result is more natural and close to what my eye gets, unlike the iPhone photo app which delivers too “hdr effect”like results.

Loving the app and the ability of the free version. Is it just me or is the cost of the annual subscription a bit too expensive?

The subscription cost is probably reasonable if the iPhone is your main camera and you want more control. If not, the default camera app is probably good enough.

What has me interested is the Blackmagic Camera App, which is for video. It's not compatible with my current phone, but I'll be looking at their compatibility list when I need to replace it.

I agree with what you are saying. It is just a shame Leica is not making it more user accessible. I know many other apps can do similar things. A shame it’s not cheaper, as the UI is brilliant.
