TeleElmar135mm Posted June 4, 2024 Share #1 Posted June 4, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello, in a review in the photo magazine from 2022 I read the following about the bayonet of the Lumix 35mm, which irritated me: MECHANICS – Very good in plastic with metal-coated plastic bayonet and sealing lip manufactured. Does anyone know for sure whether this is really the case? If so, in my opinion that would be "a big deal", but it would also explain the low weight and, among other things, the extra charge from Leica. Advertisement Posted June 4, 2024 Posted June 4, 2024 Hi TeleElmar135mm, Take a look here Lumix prime. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted June 4, 2024 Share #2 Posted June 4, 2024 What is the problem? If used properly, modern composite materials are often more suitable than metal. For instance, lighter weight with equal or superior strength. Engineering is better off withour prejudices or nostalgia.
hepcat Posted June 4, 2024 Share #3 Posted June 4, 2024 The photo on the website shows what appears to be a metal lens mount. I could perhaps understand a composite coated metal flange, where the metal was embedded to reinforce the composite material; but a metal coated composite flange just doesn't make any sense to me? https://shop.panasonic.com/products/s-series-35mm-f1-8-l-mount

In reality it is glossy and the bajonett has rounded rips. Leitz oder SONICA have rogh/sharp edges.
